Good to see some new names in that squad even if just as cover.
You mean like Ben May?
How old is that dude? 40?
No @Nepia having people past their prime at the Canes is a given
-
@stargazer Jamie Booth returning is vital, and Richard Judd on the bench means that it isn't the end of the world.

TJ has been crap the past few seasons so I'm not too concerned to be honest. Hopefully Booth finds his form of a few years ago.
That's bollox. He may well have been poor for the ABs but he has been instrumental for canes. They have had a shit and/or total baby 10, and TJ has taken a lot of the load. Canes have been poor for a few years, but without TJ and Jordie they would've been a fuck load worse

Yeah I reckon the Crusaders will be happy as TJ is not there. he seems to fire them up, Harder team to play with him thereI think.
Shit for the ABs though last year. -

Shit for the ABs though last year.Totally he carried the canes, and wanted to do the same for the ABs, I guess. But the ABs don't need carrying, they need competence and focus

You guys do realise he didn’t even play for the Canes last year. Ardie and Jordie have been the two influential players for the Canes, particularly last year. Perenara has been a big game player in years gone by but I feel he’s past his prime and I don’t think we will miss him as much as we would of a few years ago.

Maybe, but for Me he seems to fire up and lead you guy's with lots of passion, maybe more so then when he play's for the AB's.
I can remember a few games before last season he was a massive influence in the Canes winning.
I am glad to see him not there Rd 1 from a Crusaders point of view. -

For sure, that's why I said last few years, he was sorely missed last year by the canes. But I should've mentioned Ardie, even though I was talking backs!

Coles is a big asset to the Canes, not only with his leadership, but also our scrum tends to be more stable when he's in the front row... he's 35 now so won't play as much game time in each match, when he is on the field though he still shows that real pace he has.

Still the best, most impactful 2 in NZ. His absence basically cost us that Lions series win, he's that good

I'm never been a fan of Kirifi & Savea starting together, the balance is just wrong.
They are both very lightweight 7s as it is.

Disagree, they might be a bit shorter than some of the other loosies, but both take the ball up strongly, have real pace, good at the breakdown & tackle well, add Flanders at 6 & we have an excellent loose forward trio... Savea has outstanding leg drive when taking the ball up, can't think of another number 8 in NZ that can consistently power through tackles like he can.
