Reds v Chiefs

Great entertainment, kept me well and truly engaged despite the cards ..
Chiefs showed tremendous heart ,but I do wonder if they went to the bench far too late but also just a complete loss of composure when they down to 13 players ..really needed some smarter game management to which I was disappointed with the senior players Brad Webber especially..
Congratulations to the Reds .. -

Oh and 2 for the weekend.
You are not to attend any more games there.
P.S. how was the stadium?

Aussie rugby is not in a good place.
I think that game showed that Chiefs rugby is also not in a very good place. Plenty of over-achievement this year but the coaches dont seem to have learned anything.
In hindsight, they'd have gotten away with their selections easily had their smallest player on the park not taken his defence to new levels. Or even if Tiatia had tackled the player rather than swatted at the ball.
Also on the timing of the substitutions, Messam did make a big difference this week (and hats off to him, a difference that I didn't expect). The coaches may have remembered the Blues game ahead of the Aotearoa final where he didn't have the same effect on his surrounding players, but they now know that for their timings next week to bring him on earlier...

Probably but I guess the question is whether they’d have been able to get a bonus point, in which case the whole thing wouldn’t matter anyway.

Congratulations to the Reds ..Queensland just hung in there and I am pleased for Brad Thorn, notwithstanding they suffered some sort of stage fright while the Chiefs just improved and improved.
Weber as the Chiefs captain needs to go back to Successful Captain’s School – the shock:horror on his face when the referee pulled out the red card was simply childish.
The captain saw Nic Berry consult with his linesman before he explained to Weber in short little sentences what was going to happen. A sobbing attack by a captain feeling oppressed and disadvantaged was not going to have the referee splutter “Oh, sorry, sorry” and retreat. I do not remember ever seeing a referee "unblow" his whistle in such circumstances.
Why do these overpaid children do it? Why do their coaches not tell them they no longer have the top job because they are too emotionally immature?
A long time ago I realised I had never seen Sir Richie argue the toss with a referee. Unlike most players he had done the work to be accredited himself.

I hate those penalties/yellow cards.
Was hardly a ‘deliberate knock on’, it was more a I’ll have a crack at that, coz it could come off…
It's annoying, but it's the way it's been refereed for ages. The players should know better
Yep I know… doesn’t mean I have to agree 😉
Happens anywhere else on the field except the 22 it’s a knock on.
Just annoys me, there’s a deliberate knock on, then there’s taking a chance. Big difference IMO.Deliberate attempt at stopping a certain try
Yellow and Penalty Try every day of the week

Shit that was a real piece of filth from DMac.
Serious dumb arse filth that was only ever going to result in a flat red. Did the speedy hobbit get over-excited because he was playing against someone even tinier than him?
Hope he never does that type of shit in the Black Jersey. That would be unforgiveable.

Not in itself yellow cardable or penalusable . It was doing so illegally that made it.

I stopped watching with the cards and 13 players. Not because I thought the cards were wrong, just because it seemed like the contest was over. Which is why I hate the concept. Punish the player, not the team and fans.
The "how" is a bit tougher, but financial penalties and bans should encourage them to be more wary of the other players wellbeing.
Having read the thread it sounds like the Chiefs even getting close was a good result.

How on earth do you punish the player but not the team? You can't replace the guy, them you'll just have thugs hurting people as part of the game.
Maybe there is a 20min bin solution or similar, but it certainly has to be long enough to hurt the team.
And in this particular case, anyone arguing in favour of the little midget needs their head read. Terrible play, deserved everything he got.
