Looks like Patel is more than justifying his selection so far although this is going completely off cricinfo, did anyone see how he went ?
A kiwi spinner with a 2fer for not many. Wow, happy days !
what kind of witchcraft is this, since when do we select Spin bowlers to take wickets...

If we can get them for 300 odd and put close to 500 on the board then they'll be under a lot of pressure to set us something they can defend. It's pretty even at the moment.
I still can't get used to people talking like this about the Black Caps!
-
@crazy-horse yeah, just when we think life and the world can't get any weirder we have a weapon of a BC team kicking ass and taking names. Even when missing some of our big guns.

I’m still flabbergasted a spinner took not one but TWO fucken wickets !?!?!
Careful. Satnav has had three-fers on three occasions.
However he is also 3/337 over his last 8 innings.Yeah but he’s provided intangibles like balance and variety.

That ton vs England in 2019 wrote his golden ticket.

In all my born days - a Kiwi spinner who can turn the ball. Who've ever believed it.
You do a disservice to John, uncle of Doug, who beat the Aussies more than once. 😉But I hear ya.
Patel has a great arm ball but alas I think will be Canon fodder for the injuns. Not wholly convinced, not enough fizz. Still, he did a good job letting Tom rotate the others, of whom Henry may have been the most threatening, even with his average😉
A good day, great if you hated our attack like most of you doubting Thomas's ( not you dogmeat). Ever so slightly in front but rugby ain't won in the first 16 minutes🙂.
That's a good deck, will be best over the next day or two i suspect. Fielding looked good, Blundell was absolutely fine and Boulty sort of fixed his low left arm at the end.
Big days for Tom and Ross coming up.
P.s. spare a thought for Bracey - inclusivity gone mad - while Buttler still needs a rest from 15 hours of pyjama cricket played 3 months ago. Fuck the England fish heads!🙂. My new hatiest team 😂

Sorry peeps, been away from the fern while I oncentrate on watching live tests rather than just listening to them and then watching the days play later.
- Gary Stead is still a moron.
- Santnav's test career should end now - Ajaz and Ravindra offer much more (still not saying much but that pitch is not a bunsen and that's only day 1 anyway)
- Henry bowled a lot more clinically than I had thought he was capable of - but I think his peak years have passed by - a victim of having three all time great NZ bowlers operating for the last 5 years.
- I'm feeling a bit more optimistic about the WTC - our batting depth can be good - one middle order collapse seems to be about par for most sides in a season (unless you are the Pomgolians) - there's no need to shoehorn in Santnav when Kylo is superior in all facets - and having wags bat at 11 is a travesty - Lovely Trenty could bat at 10 and with our 1-7 batters I'd not be worried

The NZ Cricket Team seem to have got spectacular batting collapses down to a fine art and when they do happen they are things of wonder (depending on whose side of the fence you are on). The longer we go without one then as sure as James Blackwell's continued selection for the Hurricanes the closer we are to bombing out big time, probably when it really matters the most.

I think this is a bit of an outdated stereotype about our team.
Even with KW out I look at that top six and take comfort in the law of averages dictating that at least one of them will score pretty big and a couple will hopefully support him.

Wow…….luckily you can’t suspend a guy who is already retired but what the fuck, how is this anything more offensive than a mild piss take from our ex skipper ?

"These guys should learn to respect innocent fans, who give them more love and respect than they deserve, ungrateful bunch," another Twitter commentator said.
Twitter "commentators" they are now. Good grief.

Hopefully this craze will blow over sooner rather than later. It must be exhausting to be them

Without Devon Conway in the last game, with a bit part from Nicholls, we would have been poked
