@donsteppa did you catch Doull talking about him. Worst stats of any NZ test bowler as of the 14 match mark, and the stats person provided the info that Henry hasn't played more than 2 games back to back during his 14 match career. Stop start doesn't even begin to cover that type of Int career!

@booboo if you don't mind getting up for a few late night toilet visits, immediately followed by heading off to bed, that'd be great. Thanks in advance!

Ajaz is certainly going to get a chance to bowl his way into the team for the final.

They're batting well. If it was my team I'd be pleased.
    We're not bowling bad either.
    Good surface

Short Root! 3 down, now that's how we bounce back after an average first session. Seems like there is more juice in the pitch.

Ajaz gets a wicket, exceeding Mitch's entire wicket haul from the last game

For anyone who questioned Root’s reluctance to take on the chase in the last test, I give you our middle order batting display today 😤

Good runs these for England, counter attacking after the collapse. If they get to 300, they'll think it's game on.

Really frustrating that the new ball attack can't finish them off.

258 for 7 at the close. Balanced, competitive game after Day One. Delighted that the Blacks Caps bowled 90 overs rather than pulling any slow over rate crap.

Looks like Patel is more than justifying his selection so far although this is going completely off cricinfo, did anyone see how he went ?

A kiwi spinner with a 2fer for not many. Wow, happy days !

    On Day One!

I think we're ahead at the moment. First hour really important - mop up England for not much, and then settle in to bat once and bat big. well, that's always the plan, but we should have the best of the pitch conditions to bat on.

Going to be a tasty test match, and thank you again England for arranging it
