At primary school, Goldie also won Otago-Southland (and South Island in long jump, I think) titles in the 100 metres, long jump, and shotput!

I do recall him making a bit of a dick of himself doing an interview for a sort of "Sunday"-type current affairs show, where he said he didn't want to do any media work and just wanted to play rugby. Came across as very sulky and spoiled. He's certainly grown up from then! :)
-

Interesting (to a boxing newbie) that some folks think Joe needs a different coach. The things most of us have listed as work on's were things you could hear Barry telling him during the fight. Keep your hands up, work the body, and something about body position when throwing shots??

Guess the test is whether Barry can get Joe doing those things in the ring rather than just talking about them? While SH will pose a different challenge it'll be something to watch for - do we see Joe boxing differently etc...
-

Do Goldie and his wife have any kids? Can't remember her name, and can't be fucked looking it up, but she was a very gifted sportswoman. Probably ended her netball career too early. Looking forward to see if the genes have been passed on if they have.

I don't know, at least when it comes to cricket we've had plenty of father/son combos - with the sons outshining their father. Hadlee, Cairns, Harris, Braces and Latham on their way.

Rugby might be the case Paul Williams, Anton Oliver good careers but not their dads for sure. -

Back on topic, Haumono's last fight was shown on Sky Sports.

He took several rounds to finish off a fat unfit Argentinian who didn't even attempt to throw a punch.

I won't be giving duco $50 to watch the farce this fight will be.
-

Anton would go down as a better AB than Frank surely ? I mean he was one of the hard men of his generation but, throwing aside, Anton was pretty decent.
-

Wouldn't be surprised. Imagine the pressure to play any sport and be brilliant at it.
-

I smell a rat , and I dont think Duco can see it ,

the biggest paydays for Joshua are , Fury , Haye , Klitchko ,

Joseph is the mandatory and has no profile in England , no profile equals little money ,

Haye beats Joseph and takes the mandatory , that gets rid of that problem , Haye and Joshua have the same promoter ,
