New suitcase.
I hope I’m wrong but he looks like Reuben Thorne 2 to me so far.
Big call mate, saying Grace is a future AB captain.

There are rumours coming out of the UK this morning that Scott Robertson has told the RFU he's not interested in the England job because he's back in training to take back the All Blacks 7 Jersey for the forthcoming games against Italy, Fiji and North Macedonia.

@crucial If you believe stats (add pinch of salt) he's 2cm taller than Akira (192) and 7kg less at 106kg. Not sure i can believe that weight.
Plays heavier than that to me. Certainly not a small player.
He's more Read than Billy V, but still very powerful and capable of big hits and bending the line

@gt12 Jeez, a very, very young lad operating in a loose forward trio that hasn't been bested yet and you try to stigmatize him with that BS? He shouldn't be in Black this year judging by the experienced talent NZ has at the moment but I reckon someone needs to save this for future reference!

Ah, the Broomhall defense.
Their loose forward trio operates with the best front five in the competition.
What I said was "I hope I’m wrong but he looks like Reuben Thorne 2 to me so far."
He played well against the Canes, but against the Landers and the Blues he was clearly the worst of the starting (Sader) loosies.
He's a good young player but he shouldn't be mentioned in AB calculations based on his performances this year. So far he looks like a solid worker but not a special player.

If you are only basing your AB calculations on this year’s performances then there are a few guys who will be in trouble. Sotutu has been pretty anonymous. Akira hasn’t been as good as previous seasons. Even Cane and Ardie have been quiet.
Grace clearly has something that the selectors like and showed last season that he could carry well and could sit guys on their arse in defence.
As an AB from last year he is 100% in the AB squad conversation. -

Grace is pretty bloody handy in the lineouts too.
Another thing I have noticed is the speed he gets up off the ground and resets himself following contact . That is a quality coaches seem to like, just ask one or two other loosies out there battling for an AB spot.
Sometimes I think we as fans have way too high expectations of younger players. Another guy that springs to mind is Trask. After reading the Chiefs/Blues thread I was expecting to see him shit the bed, but when I finally got around to watching the game (or at least the first 55 mins) I thought he went well again. He defended well (for a 10), ran onto the ball well and passed well. He could work on his kicking game, but I wouldn't throw the kid out with the bath water just yet.

Sotutu didn’t look that big when I saw him on the plane a couple of weeks back but then again he was next to Patrick Tuipulotu who is an absolutely gigantic human being.
Amazing how recognisable players are even with facemasks on.

Bugger!
I wonder if they'll still consider Ardie an 8 with Cane gone?
Huge opportunity to get Ardie in at seven (and blood Dalton) and have a big bruiser at 8 (Sotutu would be my choice)
It might be one of those injuries that force the coaches into a better selection balance.
Not sure I would describe Sotutu as a "big bruiser".
Akira maybe. It goes without saying, but Ardie is bigger than Sotutu...

lol haaaave you seen our selectors
Savea at 8, Kirifi at 7. Some spud at 6. You know it's true
Prinsep, come on down.
it would aaaaalmost be worth it for the melts around here
Imagine a Frizell, Kirifi, Savea started back row. The dial up internet in NZ would explode
