In addition to that, your continued use of your unamusing names for Pocock makes you all look pretty churlish. Its about as funny as the Aussies using "McCheat" over on the other site.

As I said above: show me another video angle with clear contact and/or Pocock looking at his target and I'll go right for it. As you said: the onus IS on players to make sure they don't kick anyone in the head, so the commissioner should cite him by all means.
And are those custom team Heineken bottles from the sponsors? Bit cheap, they could have got individual players' names on them...

Â

I saw that on another site last week. Seems like a done deal.

Â

However, these are sporting contracts, so maybe there is a plan. Douglas came back from Ireland after barely a year, and that was troubled with injury. Think we forked out $300K for the privilege and it nearly paid off - probably our best T5 forward around the park. Big loss early in the game.
-

I'm asking for trouble here, but here are the facts - looking purely at the vine provided:

Â

2)

3)

4) [... normal, unremarkable stuff happens ...]

5)

6)

7) The probable contact point doesn't seem to be in shot - you can't see any part of Pocock's lower leg as it begins its journey from the top of the knee lift ...

8)

8) McCaw checks his head as he gets back to his feet.

Â

McCaw ... Pocock [do normal, unremarkable stuff]

Â

Would be good to see another angle if anyone has one. Or better definition video.

Â

BUT, you'd have to be a complete idiot to deliberately stomp someone's head ... And Pocock ... isn't that stupid, despite what some might like to believe. Nor is he a saint as the continued unfunny content likes to portray.

Â

On that last little bit ... similarly McCaw isn't so stupid as to trip someone but he did cop a yellow card a week or so ago for being just that. Spontaneous reactions happen.

Just about all of that is irrelevant Nick. I don't think anyone here is accusing Pocockwomble of a deliberate stomp on the head.
We can all see McCaw holding the leg. I bet both players held each other as long as they could get away with all game.
The fact is that Pocockwomble put his foot down and it connected with McCaws head. The onus is on him to take sufficient care that he doesn't do this. Heads are sacrosanct. Boots on heads usually draw a punishment. The severity of that punishment takes into account any mitigating factors.
Remember Adam Thompson tapping a players headgear covered head lightly with his foot as notice to get it out of the way of the ball? Was correctly cited and punished.
Horwill was cited and in most eyes got off very lightly.
Can't see why (except for "politics" and not wanting to sully the final) this wouldn't at least attract a citing and get looked at carefully.

I'm not particularly wedded to the incident at all, NTA, other than to have a bit of fun (as "unfunny" as you find it to be) at the expense of the long running "Richie is a cheat - Our Davey is Lovely and better than him anyway, so there!" mantra chanted interminably by the kiddies on local rugby web sites, which automatically absolves the crowd favourite (who they portray as a saint) from all wrong.
From elsewhere:

Â

"Quade Cooper’s Wallabies career has hit a significant hurdle, and his rugby sevens dream looks dead in the water, with the talented five-eighth set to be unveiled as a Toulon player on Monday.

Â

On the eve of Australia’s World Cup final with the All Blacks, the French club released a statement confirming Cooper would be presented to the media on Monday – when most of his teammates will be flying home.

Â

The Queensland Reds playmaker signed a two-year deal with Toulon in April, only to attempt to back out of the contract in the hope of signing a new deal with Australian rugby – with one eye on playing sevens rugby at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro."

Â

I have read somewhere that if he continued to renig on the deal done it would cost him $200,000.
-

Kirwan - I'm not doing this as a points scoring exercise. I'm using it to point out the referees either missed things or judged them in a different light to other incidents based on what they saw. Some of them I'm less happy with than others. Not going to change anything now.

Â

For example: people above are talking about Foley being offside for Genia's kick on the second try. Again, not going to change anything now, but its interesting to look at these and see where refs and their team are making calls and where they're not. Particularly as they're allowed to use the TMO two phases back edit from a try being scored /edit and could, in theory, check on anything in that period like the bloody NRL do (for which I'm thankful they're not).

Â

And I don't see you popping snide remarks at them.

Â

? Apologies - Â I thought you were referring to the Kepu high shot on Carter and I was using the Kaino one as a parallel.

Â

Kepu got penalised - probably lucky not to get a yellow.

Â

The high shot on Kaino was referred to the TMO on the run. Was about 35m out dead in front, so goal kicking opportunity (tactical advantage). There was no subsequent input from the TMO, or before there was, Owens called advantaged over just as we got to the 22, out on the tram tracks on the right hand side. I thought that was very odd, given to this point we've seen TMOs go back for foul play or refs pull play up to look at it in this RWC. It didn't look like advantage.

Â

Guess World Rugby need to work on the TMO guidelines a bit more, and should NOT be introducing them at RWC but have little option given the different broadcast setups for Test rugby across the world
-

Would have been worth going to the TMO for that try. Â Foley looked about half a metre offside when Genia kicked the ball. Â Still, swings and roundabouts and all that.

Not according to reports. His agent apparently signed something which means QC is out of pocket $200K if he renegs, and the owner of the club (Toulon? Yes, Toulon) said he'll come after the ARU if he needs to - not because of the money, but just because he's a billionaire and could probably buy the ARU if he wanted. See below - this was April. Think Quade had cold feet after McKenzie left, and Foley started getting game time. Plus all the "ITS A NSW CONSPIRACY!" shit flying around.

Â

There were a LOT of angry QLDers unprepared to accept McKenzie was anything but a saint.

Â

Anyway, the word is that Quade is going to honour his deal and play 2 years in France. He meets the 7 year rule but not the 60 Test rule (58 caps I think) so would be toast as far as Wallaby selection goes.

Like I said - he could probably buy the ARU with his pocket money so given the lack of minutes for Quade lately, it may not be a surprise that the ARU were willing to say "oh darn! We forgot to give Quade another 2 caps" or whatever it is they need.
