    @kirwan

Yeah, and Barrett isn’t the be all and end all of lock/6 bench options. Arguably we’d want a 6/lock as our locks can often do 80 minutes.

I see it as the best path for him to break into the squad, after which he’d have heavy competition for the 23 from Barrett.

@kirwan Well, I see it differently.

Sotutu has yet to convince me and I don't like Cane at 6 (and is not a long term option aged 29 and breaking so often). Haven't seen Jacobson much in the black 6 jersey either. I think Blackadder makes more sense at 6.

If Sotutu has another anonymous SR season, and others step up, I'd like to see them given a chance, especially if they finally realise that they need to drop Frizell. We have so many young locks now in the mix, that I'd rather see them focus on developing the backrow (finding the right mix).

Anyway, the squad is unusually big this year, so they're more likely to drop people without replacing them, next year.

As pure number eight options, really only Sotutu and Jacobson looking AB level from Super Rygby (I'll ignore your mistaken opinion about Sotutu having an anonymous season).

Ardie and Blackadder both look more effective at seven, and need to be left there IMO. We can't keep making the same mistakes against the bigger teams.

That means a big player, like Akira or Jacobson, at six. A specialist eight, and specialist seven.

That means Akira, Jacobson and Ardie for me (ignoring Cane until next year). Dalton covering 6/7 from the bench.

Hilarious how you always present your opinion as fact and that of others as a mistake. 😂
We're allowed to express a different opinion to yours, aren't we? And those opinions are just as valid/invalid as yours!

Umm, if you re-read you'll see I used the term In My Opinion. Not sure how I could make that any clearer for you?

@kirwan My comment in my previous post was clearly a reaction to the bolded bit and not to the rest of your post, where you indeed use the acronym IMO. Anyway, you'll no doubt disagree with this also. That's fine.

I think you are stuck in a hypocrisy loop again.

People are allowed to disagree with people's opinions - even yours!

I disagree that Sotutu had a quiet season, he certainly did enough to make the All Blacks for example. Now in case you get confused again, that's my opinion.

Haha, twisting words again. You are the one having trouble accepting when people disagree with you, not me. You always want the last word. But go on, respond again and you'll have it.

You see, now you're wording your opinion as an opinion, and not as a fact like you did earlier. Well done. You're learning. Do you want a stamp with that?

Only twisting going on here is by you.

It's pretty obvious to everyone but you that me saying your opinion is mistaken is my opinion. I can't help if you decide to treat that as a fact.

    I guess it's a compliment?

the absolute best thing about us not being walk up morals for every single game any more is it has brought back the shitfights. And we are getting some very serious provincial battle lines drawn up

This place is way more fun when we lose a few, and we have across the board a bunch of guys who are all about the same level, and all have flaws that can be highlighted and exaggerated

The Jordie v DMac battle got settled so I can relax a bit more now. Will still take the odd snipe at Mo'unga when I get the chance though.

that's the best one. BB and Mo'unga are the same player with the same strengths and weaknesses, but the guys in each camp will back them to the hilt as the superior player

Sotutu hasn't had a quiet season. Was outstanding in Super Rugby, got leap-frogged by Jacobson/Blackadder but it's a highly competitive loose combo. His appearances since have been v.good.

Sotutu started SRA pretty slow, but from the 2nd half of SRA and into SR-TT, he really improved and got closer to his 2020 form.

Can we talk about Sotutu's AB form this year as well? He can still make mistakes but overall I thought he has played ok? (I admit I have not seen one game, and not sure I can bear to).
He is still young and I like the way he uses his long arms to disrupt the maul and some of his passing is very sweet for a loose forward. But he can also struggle to impose himself when the going gets hard (perhaps this is just an AB forward characteristic, sigh...) I still think he could be a longterm AB 8 and so could Jacobson (although I did like seeing LJ at 6).
