I expected to see Harry Plummer added to the squad. Maybe good for Ofa T to be training over there if level 4 continues in Auckland.
As 10? Ehh... like him but not sure he's the next best 10 option. Hunt for me.

@act-crusader better captain than a few others named. Horses for courses 🤷♀️
Weber has started 1 test, I can’t see how he’s even in the discussion for AB captain.
All the other names have decent AB experience on top of their provincial/franchise captaincy.
Tuipoluto, Scott Barrett, Beauden Barrett, Taylor, Savea, Retallick, Coles, Perenara - all played 40+ tests.
I’d give it to Beauden Barrett. Guaranteed to start, highly likely to play 80, and has captained the ABs previously.
Luke Whitelock captained the All Blacks in his second game.
But he has legendary status….
but in all seriousness that was a game not a test match and an AB lineup that had AB stalwarts like Matt Duffie, Tim Perry, Dom Bird, Sopoaga, JTA!
Sopoaga played well in Black!
Amazing that he only started 2 tests.
A magnificent debut at Ellis Park in 2015 being one.
The other being probably his worst game in black - at 10 at Suncorp in a dead rubber Bledisloe in 2017.
Obviously a lot of focus on the Boks and Argie but i'm interested how ABs handle the Perth test. ABs often falter in these dead rubber Bledisloe tests.
If his first was magnificent, and his second wasn't then you're probably right.
Haha. He also played 14 tests off the bench for the ABs which I was factoring in to the Brisbane performance.
Didn't read "started"

@act-crusader Yes noticed that he was playing 2nd five which he is not suited for. Filling a gap for the highlanders. Perhaps the AB environment would sort him out.

dead set, if the Wallabies can't beat that team tehn they may as well pack it in for good.
Best hooker? not there
Best lock? Not there
Best player and also best 9? Not there
Best 10? Not there3 of those are our most influential players.
Is Retallick not travelling? I thought only Whitelock was remaining behind?
I'm very confused, I'm sure I saw Scott Barrett named?

And played more 15 than 10 during SRA and SRTT this year.

I agree Hunt is next best as a starter but thought they might break in someone slowly with a longer term view. I think Plummer has improved a lot this year. Should be playing 10 all the time I feel.

Looking forward to seeing how Beauden goes at 10. It's a good opportunity for him to put some pressure on Mo'unga and also show if he still has it.
It's a shit opportunity. Best lock and best halfback missing in a dead rubber. We also use these games to give too many fringe players a go.

You gotta love the people that decry the current playing squad as vastly inferior to years gone past but have obviously just memory blocked that era where Weepu, Cowan and Ellis were the best halfbacks in the country.
What about all the other positions? Weepu was pretty decent, his fitness probably held him back from being better. But the rest of the 2015 team from 1 to 15, almost man for man was better than this team. No slight on the 2021 edition, we just had a once in a lifetime generational squad

I'm actually quite surprised how many of that 2015 squad are still in the 2021 squad: Coles, Taylor, Retallick, Whitelock, Cane, Smith, Perenara and Beauden Barrett. Oh, and Moody, who was added later.

Except he had got at least three games to show it. The puma games aren't dead rubbers.

@arhs Nope, you're right. I've seen some massive mistakes in some of the media, too, who've obviously lost track of where we are in the competition. I can excuse the rugby public no longer knowing where we're at, but so-called rugbywriters should know that we've (only) played one RC game. I've seen this next test described as the first RC game, or just Bledisloe 3 (which strictly speaking isn't correct either, although it is the third Bledisloe game).

@mariner4life Note the word "should". I see it as a job requirement that is often not met.
