All Blacks 2021

@act-crusader better captain than a few others named. Horses for courses 🤷♀️
-
Losing these guys would be a good test. But plenty of good replacements luckily. Having Beauden as backup 10 is kind of ridiculous.
And with Retallick returning to form than that really strengthens the second row a lot. Along with Barret and Tuipulotu that's a good trio in the 23.
Weber is a step down from Smith but TJ I think off the bench offers a lot of experience at least.

Weber has started 1 test, I can’t see how he’s even in the discussion for AB captain.
All the other names have decent AB experience on top of their provincial/franchise captaincy.
Tuipoluto, Scott Barrett, Beauden Barrett, Taylor, Savea, Retallick, Coles, Perenara - all played 40+ tests.
I’d give it to Beauden Barrett. Guaranteed to start, highly likely to play 80, and has captained the ABs previously.

Agreed, it's going to be either BB or Savea if the other three are unavailable. BBBR was reluctant to captain the Chiefs so I doubt they will ask him.

One more start than George Whitelock.

Luke Whitelock captained the All Blacks in his second game.

Possible skippers:
- Scott Barrett
- Paddy Tuipolutu
- TJP
- Coles
- Taylor
what a rogues gallery of decidedly average players (and Dane Coles)
-
Fucking hell, I checked my understanding of my last post, and now I’m so depressed.
Akira Ioane was in full beast mode in 2018, but who was preferred as the backup to Read?
Luke fucking Whitelock.
The coaches really jumped the shark in 2017/2018 and were just trying to hang on. I think they lost sight of leaving the team in a better place than it was when they got it.

When the people’s choice of coach doesn’t run him into the ground, Taylor is very fucking useful.

yeah, but we are in to a couple of years of "meh" in Black. So just maybe...

But he has legendary status….
but in all seriousness that was a game not a test match and an AB lineup that had AB stalwarts like Matt Duffie, Tim Perry, Dom Bird, Sopoaga, JTA!

He then captained the ABs in a test match in his last AB match which was his 7th test too many.

Gee that is at least 3 Whitelocks to captain at Super or international level.

I guess when you’re in your 20s and you look like you’re in your 50s coaches just naturally assume you’re mature and captain material.

Amazing that he only started 2 tests.
A magnificent debut at Ellis Park in 2015 being one.
The other being probably his worst game in black - at 10 at Suncorp in a dead rubber Bledisloe in 2017.
Obviously a lot of focus on the Boks and Argie but i'm interested how ABs handle the Perth test. ABs often falter in these dead rubber Bledisloe tests.

It's basically a no win for us, but could offer up false hope to the Aussies if they win

@kiwimurph well the last perth one sucked....
