Sir Clive Woodward: The Kiwi coach who should replace Eddie Jones at England

Sir Clive Woodward: The Kiwi coach who should replace Eddie Jones at England

The legendary England mentor believes a Kiwi coach has the tools to succeed Eddie Jones.

Bloody hell why isn't Scott Robertson wrapped up in the AB coaching team? We can't afford to let England snaffle him-that would be outright poaching!

@mn5 Akira Ioane a possibility at 6, his power would be very useful at Test level, but he is not playing well enough to have a lock on the Jersey.

Reiko's an option at both 11 and 13, but missed six tackles yesterday.

I'm a fan of the Ioane bros when they are playing well.

how many of Reiko's missed tackles were on the opposing midfielders I wonder?

My first stab at naming an AB team in 2021

    1. Moody ( By a country mile)
    2. Taylor
    3. Laulala
    4. Whitelock
    5. Scott Barrett (when's Lurch back?)
    6. Very open. Maybe Big Red.
    7. Sam Cane (c)
    8. Ardie Savea (Hoskins seems to have second season blues)
    9. Aaron Smith
    10. Richie Mo'unga
    11. Caleb Clarke (Needs to up his work rate)
    12. David Havili
    13. Jack Goodhue
    14. Will Jordan
    15. Jordie Barrett
    16. Aumua (If he gets fit)
    17. Karl T
    18. Ofa T
    19. Very open. Patrick T? Dunshea?
    20. Dalton Papalii
    21. Fakatava
    22. DMac
    23. Reiko Ioane

    19 : PPP ?

@cgrant A big unit with a high workrate. If he can string some form together and I can see him making the ABs.

I know it was first game back after a layoff and you couldn't fault the workrate but I can't really recall PPP ever really stamping his mark on a game in the way a big man should, even if it is every now and again to show potential.
He has the size, the engine and the skills but I'm still waiting for that last piece of the puzzle to turn up.
Maybe I just have my expectations too high and miss BBBR?

@crucial we saw a couple of glimpses of what he was doing last year, so the potential is still there. He gets hit but just kinda keeps going as though he's wading through waist high water. Give him a game or two to get back used to rugby and throwing a slightly larger body around, I reckon we'll start to see his quality.

Hope so. I’d like to have a big option to keep Pat T and S Barrett away from the jersey.

yeah, he definitely had a couple of runs (strides) with some tacklers hanging off or bouncing off him

I hope he'll get to at least train with the AB's, we see some people really respond to those kinds of opportunities

Yep fitness permitting get PPP in. He was pencilled in last year before his injury. Thought he looked really sharp on the weekend considering how long it's been since he played.

Interestingly Brodie has apparently trimmed down quite a bit in Japan according to Wayne Smith on the Breakdown, while this will be a good thing for his fitness and speed, seems like he may need to bulk up a bit when he returns.

I reckon there are a few locks who can't be far off, however with SW, SB, PT and TV, I'm guessing we won't see anyone other than a WTG role.

@mofitzy_ “The game’s different over there, if you watch Kobe play at the moment and see Brodie Retallick – he’s down to 117 kgs because he’s got to be able to keep up with the game. He’s magnificent, he’s absolutely magnificent,” he added.

The sacred All Blacks mauri stone has been handed over to the All Blacks Experience at SkyCity in central Auckland, where it will stay whenever the All Blacks are not playing.
The All Blacks Experience team will act as kaitiaki of the precious taonga, which accompanies the All Blacks wherever they play, at home or overseas. The stone embodies the team’s mana and offers them protection in their travels and on the field.
