World Test Championship

Given I want them both to lose this is both enjoyable and disappointing.
Would quite have liked taking some revenge on England for that bullshit in the ODI CWC.

Pant’s innings was super entertaining. Followed the plan to reach the target then just had fun. His treatment of the new ball was memorable.
Reverse ramp to Anderson!Pant is on fire. Feel for Washington not getting his ton, because his innings was excellent also.
Bring on India!

How did this team look so good in winning the first game and then dissolve into a rabble? They are genuinely at risk of losing by an innings despite inning only managing 365.
Root scored big. He does well, we do well he doesn't, we don't. At least that's the way it seems.
-
@mn5 that's true. It's not a stellar England team, particularly the batting line up.
Mostly though, this is another example of how, for the last 5 years at least, the proficient teams in world test cricket just haven't lost at home venues.
Except Australia 🙂

Oh look, we're in a cricket final
When does that ever go wrong?

Just proving yet again England aren’t particularly good. Aside from Root and maybe Anderson who from their team would walk into the Black Caps ?
Stokes probably would as well.
No I don’t reckon. He is an all rounder but he’s not World Class in either discipline. In years gone by yes he would have walked in but not with the team we have currently. Our four seamers are all better than he is ( he’s currently the 30th best bowler in the world ) and the only way he’d get in as a batsman ( where he is ranked 11th which surprises me ) is if he magically reinvented himself as an opening partner for Tom Latham.

Stokes would be in a straight shoot out with CDGH if we choose not to play a "spinner" and I'd lean Stokes

Can we riff about the countback criteria that will rob us again?
Count back of curries consumed over 5 days?
Number of spurious appeals?
Biggest bank account wins?
Fan vote?
Number of shit cricket videos on YouTube?
Number of deceptive/fake titles on YouTube as you type in India vs England test highlights?

He would qualify too.
I'd say that Stokes would have been selected for NZ then would still be hanging around because it's difficult to get dropped if the selectors have chosen you for a while. -

I reckon the Lords' Groundsman might be ordering some super-yacht brochures.
Yeah. Will be getting the blast heaters on the pitch and putting a permanent roof over the block.
Edit: Hold that though. It's started https://www.news18.com/cricketnext/news/icc-world-test-championship-final-to-be-moved-out-of-lords-report-3506237.html

Shit, that guy's gotta be gutted.
Every other groundsman in the country... waiting with baited breath... where's the gravy train roulette wheel going to land?
(Couldn't think of any more metaphors to mix in there)
