I don't think Jordie has had a fair go. Far and away the best FB in SR. Obvious to all his range of skills at FB.
Put him at FB and the dynamics of AB back play will be immediately apparent. It would also help if the coaches can also sort out the back-line. Better first esp and midfield. Jordan and Clarke on the wings

Maybe Jordies talent cap is Super Rugby? Anyone thought of that..
Btw Will Jordan was the best full back in super rugby this year and its not even close.
Go take a look at any of the stats and compare the two. Jordan is clearly the pre-eminent full back in the country.Jordie was MOTM against the Lions on debut at, surprise surprise, 15.

Maybe Richie's talent cap is super rugby. At least hes been tried in his best position. JB hasn't except for one game
Neither was Jordan. Should be tested at 15 given Jordie is set at 14 and gets all the crosskicks which he is so effective at...
Hes only played a few minutes at test level. Let him start and see how he goes in a tight close game. Not a 38-0 game
-
@No-Quarter MOTM?! Where he just batted it down for Laumape? Is he going to live off one moment for ever?
Jordan literally made more metres in 15 minutes than Jordie has the last 5 games combined.
Amazing to think Jordan was out of position and doing this..considering how hard it is apparently to go from fullback to wing as some are saying here..

Have to admit I'm struggling to take you seriously

It wasn't a 38-0 game when he came on.

According to ESPN stats, Akira leads tackling stats with 8 made (0 missed) which easily bests the forwards (Pumas only had 29% of the ball). [Edit made as the stats were updated].
With the ball he has 9 runs for 41 metres with two defenders beaten [Also updated]. That puts him behind Ardie and Scott B on the forwards (and Patty Tuips) but that last name probably shows how we should evaluate that as Patty did his over 5 runs, most coming in his try scoring run.
We’ll piss around about how good Jordan was (125 metres and 2 tries!) but Akira is the find from this game.
I hope he’ll keep it up.

@Winger You mean the tight game that Jordan blew up to 38-0 when he came on?
You realise he scored 2 tries and set up the 3rd to make it 38-0 right? You know he didnt come in 80th minute right?Richie was brilliant in one game. But poor to ordinary in the others. Clarke looked a super star in his first game but not close to that level since
I prefer to form an opinion based on more than a few minutes of test rugby

Yes, that is how I judged Jordie.
-
@Winger Ive had a whole super rugby season to see who the superior player is.
And in 15 minutes that player did more than the other did in 6 games of international rugby.Say what you want about Jordan and limited sample size, what about Jordie? 6 games and completely average if not below average in performance.

Its about a team game and the right combinations. My view is Clarke JB (FB) and Jordan should be tried as a combination. But it also needs a good first (not Richie - tried and clearly not up to it) and a decent midfield combo (not this starting combination). So its not just bring in one player but the whole back line needs to be fixed

You realise he scored 2 tries and set up the 3rd to make it 38-0 right? You know he didnt come in 80th minute right?Yeah it was really fucking nail-biting stuff at 17-0, 70% possession, 80% territory and Argentina having made nearly four times as many tackles as us. So surprised that our bench players made an impact given how tight it was.
-
@No-Quarter Yes I'm sure Jordie wouldve had the same impact coming off the bench XD XD
Funny how the guy with the most metres/linebreaks/broken tackles in super rugby this year continued this form into international rugby. What a strange coincidence..
-
@No-Quarter I don’t think he’s a test 15 yet.
-
@Winger said in Argentina Two: Newcastle, 28 November:

Almost as if Clarke was doing the job of two wingers and a centre because we were missing other options?
Admittedly there were those two or three high balls that Jordie competed for over 6 games where his height really made a difference. And his long range goal kicking - wouldn't want to forget that. There's probably other talents of Jordies that I've missed as he's never actually showed them in an AB jersey.
In comparison, Will Jordan displayed something in a matter of minutes. Certainly enough to drop Jordie to the bench and start Jordan over him to see.

Who knows? He dominated the level down and hasn't been given a chance.
Same as Jordan. The selections this year have been absurd.

He has been given a chance. He’s started 7 tests at fullback and filled in a few more. I think there’s things he still has to develop in his game.
And I know Fozzie isn’t flavour of the month but I don’t think this years selections in a compressed test schedule have been any more “absurd” than what we have seen in previous years under other coaches.
-
@No-Quarter Looking at the stats i wouldnt call what Jordie did anything close to 'dominated'.
Will Jordan on the other hand 'dominated' super rugby this year.
