At what point have you lost control of the ball?
when the ball and his hand/finger cease to be in contact.
The argument is that it touched the ground before any separation occurred, meaning it should have been a try.
All a moot point it is in the record books (or not) I bet Ioane will always remember that non-try!
It looked marginal and when you put yourself at the mercy of the TMO sometimes you get away with it and sometimes not

@taniwharugby can anyone put up footage of him after the grounding? Did he look overjoyed or a little suss? Often the player's reaction is a big clue
He looked a bit suss

He acted like he scored

@Rapido Yeah it was confusing. What I am asking is if it is not a try then what is it? Is it a knock on? It wasn't a knock on as his fingertips had not left the ball. Just trying to understand what the actual call was if it wasn't a try.
Yes, a knock on. 5 scrum to the defensive team.

@Bones to me it was a muted bounce like pressure, albeit little, was applied.
Or muted, as though it had just slipped out of the hand at close distance?
50/50 whether it was. We agree that 2 hands preferred so a muted bounce is not an issue.

@Kiwiwomble said in Bledisloe One: Wellington, October 11:
@canefan yeah,i thought that was pretty tame for him, not much reaction until he turns around
Also telling is the reaction after the TMO decision had been announced. Almost resigned to knowing he didn’t ground the ball properly and just jogs off to the sheds with the team.
Gee I hope he hits back. Eden Park crowd will lift if Ioane scores and grounds it correctly.

@Stargazer You might hate his style, but it is the only in depth analysis you get now-a-days. Of actual plays/tactics/etc. Rather than the dross in mainstream media, no one else does this stuff since 1014 died a death

I really enjoyed it. Some interesting observations, especially about the last eight minutes. Still amazing the ABs didn't score.
yeah, some really good points about RM taking control at the end, i remember thinking we seems to go end to end with ease but hadn't clicked how much of that was down to RM

Right now he sounds like a good impact player to close out a game. But that’s just my humble opinion...

@ACT-Crusader you're not wrong
would be really interest what razor wold have done as coach now, would he have set up like the saders and we'd see a bit more of the SRA RM

I know there’s been a massive pile on, but I’m not as critical with Foster given there are a lot of 50/50 calls with many of these decisions. I would’ve started Barrett at 10 but given he was injured it’s a moot point.
I guess I’ve seen plenty of “clear and obvious” ones only for AB coaches to do something different. How dare they 😉
