What an amazing coincidence that happened right when the UFC finally went all in with drug testing! It's no wonder he dodged the drug testing GSP was paying for out of his own pocket a couple years ago.

SILVA v CORMIER
Fair play to Silva taking the fight on 2 days notice, but Cormier too big & powerful for him. Looked more like a Heavyweight versus a Light Heavyweight
Lasted longer than I thought though
Smart fight from Cormier but won no fans tonight
Silva on the other hand did a lot to gild his reputation and legacy after some poor bouts
Based on that conditioning - did Cormier underestimate Silva - Jones would have walked this fight. Dullard

Completely different kind of fighter and fight. Anderson may be a lot smaller than Jones but he's a far more dangerous standup fighter as well (unless we count eye pokes).

Title fights always get top billing in the UFC. It actually caused a bit of controversy when they first introduced women's fights in the UFC because all the internet man children thought Rousey headlining over Dan Henderson was the worst thing ever...

Good thing they did it too, Tate/Nunes was a much better fight.
-

And fair play to them for doing it - good to see.
-

Apparently the owners of UFC just sold it for $4 Billion. Not bad for an outlay of $2 Million 15 years ago.

Two cracking bouts and one good bout definitely worth a watch

Ah ok, fair call, I don't follow either particularly closely so wasn't aware of this.

In any case it's a fair old effort when you consider WWE stars aren't really "sportsmen" as such ( I may risk opening a can of worms in saying that )

stuntmen!
-

I'm a bit of a Johnny-come-lately to the UFC, in that I never really watched it when I was living in NZ because I didn't think it was worth the PPV fees, but now its free to air in Asia I watch it a little bit. I'm a bit bemused by Hunt's reaction to Lesnar's failed drugs test. Would be interested to know the opinions of those who have watched it a while and what they think of the latest twist in the plot.

For me, it was quite clear that Hunt knew, or at least very strongly suspected that Lesnar was doping when he agreed to the fight. From memory there were quite a number of references to it in the build up to the fight etc, but he still happily took the fight (and the reasonable sized pay packet). Now that he lost the fight, and Lesnar has been flagged as a 'roid user (surprise, surprise), it kind of smacks of sour grapes or opportunism on Hunt's behalf to come out and ask for a bigger share of the purse, or to be released from his contract. Surely if you strongly suspected or knew, you'd of the potential doping prior to the fight, that's when you'd kick up the stink about it and insist on pre-fight testing.

I've watched a few Hunt fights, and used to follow him back in his K1 days, but to me it seems that he's now more of a prize-fighter type character who is good for entertaining fights and knockouts rather than a genuine title contender? With a record of 12 and 10 or whatever it is, surely he can't be that upset by the loss, which will in all likelihood be ruled a no-contest in the history books?
