@stockcar86 Bad debts are generally able to be written off. There are a number in that category that apply to this Hurricanes squad.

@canes4life Nor will he ever be. It is staggering why he keeps getting selected of PUJ or any other midfield player in the squad for that matter.

Maybe they are trying to get back on their investment?

Thank you I would’ve been none the wiser to the definition of it.

@canes4life They might have a chance in the Championship division but would be prime contenders for relegation if they took part in the Premiership Division but naturally I would be supporting BoP for that spot!

@mikey07 that side could seriously be the worst Canes team in history.

It’s quite unfortunate we don’t have the likes of the Aussies or Saffa teams in this comp to help is prop up the table.

@mikey07 That's being a trifle optimistic. This Hurricanes side would struggle against the Reds and Brumbies who have decent forwards and backs respectively. The Sth Africans generally come up with giants in the forwards which would smother the Canes, and if that didn't work then there is the good old SA fall back of refereeing to overcome now that neutral refs seem to have been done away with as a cost cutting measure.

That 2015 Canes side would probably beat the current lot by 100 points.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/super-rugby/124574211/super-rugby-aotearoa-orbyn-leger-into-hurricanes-hot-seat-against-chiefs

Former New Zealand Schools first-five Aidan Morgan, 19, was in the mix, too, but was deemed too young by NZ Rugby when the Hurricanes applied to add him to their squad, Holland said.

So Love is still 19 DOB 24/4/2001
    Morgan DOB 7/6/2001

Does the extra 6 weeks make a difference?
    Hope Love goes well

Sitting in the background is another 19-year-old former NZ Schools pivot, Ruben Love, who was named in the 38-man Hurricanes squad and will play first-five for the second team the Hunters on Saturday.

Holland rates Love highly and the gifted first-five/fullback will loom into contention in coming weeks after he was sidelined by concussion early in the season. Taranaki’s Daniel Waite is another pivot summoned as cover.

@higgins This defies belief do we have to go through every 10 playing professionally before we get to him.

@mikey07 Certainly not, we have to endure going through all the guys training up at Rugby League Park right through to the Under 18s before that is likely to happen. Also throw in every Swindale Shield club first five before McLutchie is likely to be considered and that's before you even start on the guys playing in the 'Poo.

The coaches really are trying their best to make this team as mediocre as possible. What a bunch of tugboats.

Add Billy Proctor to the Holland favouritism list. After not doing much how does he get ahead of PUJ?

Surely the most pertinent question is how come he is not in the ABs if he is a better player than PUJ (at least in the Canes selectors minds)?

I would think that age is only one of the factors to get NZR permission to play these young players. Morgan is small, so unless he has put some meat on his bones since leaving school it would be a big step up. Love is bigger and has played more NPC so far.

@mikey07 Maybe, maybe not. I don't have any idea whether there's any truth in it, but I've recently heard the rumour that McClutchie - after not getting a SR contract - signed a contract as injury cover with a Japanese club, but can't enter Japan because of COVID border restrictions (may have to do with the type of contract?). According to the rumour, more NZ players are in this position (including Baden Kerr). The rumour doesn't say when he signed that contract and with which club, but it would explain why he can't be called up now as injury cover for a NZ SR player.

@bovidae I saw Morgan play recently, and he's still a baby. Didn't look ready at all. I think having played NPC makes a big difference.

Repeat after me: McClutchie, McClutchie (not McLutchie)
