Hurricanes 2021

@Stargazer I'd rather Garden-Bachop at 10 than McLutchie, he was solid for the Canes this year and deserves the first opportunity. McLutchie is good on attack but he's been nothing but a turnstile on defence at Mitre 10 level, which I'm assuming is why he doesn't have a contract with anyone.
I'm hoping that out of all the options Ruben Love is the guy that gets the most development in the next year. I feel like he will be the Canes main playmaker in the future. Looks to be the best equipped.

About Southland midfielder Ray Nu’u:
MacLeod said they have managed to link Nu’u with the Hurricanes for the Super Rugby preseason which would be good for his progress.
-
I thought preseason started in January for all franchises, but looking at the Hurricanes' social media, the Canes are already training. Maybe not all of them? Or only the Wellington players? I have definitely seen Goosen, Proctor, Kirifi, PU-J, Patafilo and Fifita.
-
@Stargazer I think it's just a case of putting in those extra yards. I've heard Kirifi has set a fairly high standard in that department and I guess some of the players are following suit.

@Canes4life I saw Goosen’s and Fifita’s Instagram pages that they were running up Mt Victoria.
-
I heard from a source who’s was cut from Canes Management that the plan he had set in place to sign the up and coming players out of the provinces eg McClutchie went out the window when he got booted not sour grapes from this guy but he reckons this years team will be the worst ever.
-
@mikey07 Fancy having the gall to pick decent players from the catchment area ahead of anyone based in Wellington. No wonder he got booted. Maybe the Hawkes Bay halfback missed out because nobody in the 'Canes management could spell Fakatava?

Holland mentions around the 10min mark that Blackwell and Prinsep are two of the main leaders within the squad. No wonder they keep getting picked.
Interesting to hear the Holland would have been a part of Razor's AB team if he got the gig meaning the Canes were always going to lose one of their coaches.
Holland's young player to watch out for in 2021 is Ruben Love.
-
@Canes4life Has any General won a war if his rank and file foot soldiers were shite? A crap General might be able to fluke a win in a few battles if his foot soldiers are good though. Looks like we won't be seeing either here this season.

Only really dumb coaches would do this
I don't mind Princep so much. Hes fairly ordinary though but ok if he got great leadership skills then 1 and only one in the team is fair enough. But Blackwell is not even clsoe to supper rugby quality. And 2 plodderrs one (Blackwell) who is rubbish most games is too mcuh for any team that wants to win rather than just make up the numbers
The difference between a winning coach and one that just adequate can be small. Its these sorts of decisions that makes the difference. And really with Coles, Savea and the Wellington Captain surely that's enough. Not ever forward needs to have leadership qualities. Esp those that when they are captain (Princep and Blackwell) the team does a bit shit

Very good interview. JW was OK. Not over the top (bordering on painful) as he can be
