Hurricanes 2021

weak weak 9/10. Does not bode well for a good system

@mikey07 To me the signing of the Bus is nothing more than an attempt to lure more people into buying memberships and to the stadium (if he's on the team sheet). He's a crowd favourite, despite being so far past his best that he should be struggling for game time. I say "should" because this coaching combo has made many wrong selections throughout the 2020 season.

@Stargazer I agree I also have a hunch it’s to keep Ardie
Ooooh, nepotism rugby conspiracy. Nice work.

Fletcher Smith doesn't get re-signed and as now without a team but at least Hickey is there 😅
Smith was the first option. But he was disappointing so the went for JGB and he was OK. Did the basics very well without setting the world on fire. Esp when Barrett was there to support him. But when Tiatia was at FB it didn't work. Ive just noticed he's not there anymore thank god. Shame Blackwell still is though. But its not really the players fault just dumb coaches who start them

My starting team. Could be a good team. Armstrong is not great so hopefully one of the other props step up. Booth is unlikely to be fit for the first game so I guess Campbell.
But Blackwell and Prinsep will likely get the nod
Props: Tyrel Lomax, Fraser Armstrong.
Hookers: Dane Coles,
Locks: Isaia Walker-Leawere, Scott Scrafton,
Loose forwards: Ardie Savea, Devan Flanders, Du’Plessis Kirifi,
Halfbacks: Jamie Booth
First-fives: Jackson Garden-Bachop,
Midfielders: Peter Umaga-Jensen, Ngani Laumape
Outside backs: Wes Goosen, Jordie Barrett, Salesi Rayasi

The best example of this was Kevin Iro insisting Wigan sign Tony.
Fatty might be the worst example.

That's going back a bit, but Tony was still quite good wasn't he?

I like that loose forward trio

question, was Fletcher Smith ever given more then two or three games in a row, might be wrong but it felt like the canes were always chopping and changing at 10

I thought he was quite good. Never got the chances that JGB got as the season progressed

I though he was poor to start. But then was better but never better than adequate. except for his start in the SR Aotearoa where he was good

In SRA it was almost always JGB starting

@Kiwiwomble he was actually starting to come right during normal super rugby yet seem to lose his position to JGB

He lost his starting position after being poor in his first few starts. And never did enough to reclaim it
