All Blacks Tests 2020

I couldn't find a thread about the tests themselves, rather than the coach and team so, the incoming tests are officially kaput

Bloody hell. The rampant Scots robbed of a historic first test win against the Men in Black. What a terrible time to be alive.
-
They'll sue China

More like try to sue the WHO and end up sending a letter to David Caruso.
-
There probably will be some appalling rhetoric out of Scotland about the All Blacks having been vulnerable and Scotland on the up.
-
Been obvious for a long time that these tests wouldn't happen.
-
I hope some other union doesn't snap him up
-
I'm currently watching us fuck the Frogs in France in 2017. Shit we were good. This first half is embarrassingly one sided
-
Jesus I just watched the AB captain take a dive to try and win a penalty. What a disgrace.
-
Kane Hames is publicly fucking Slimani

Playing the RC in Aust (likely Perth) is still an option according to those on the other side of the ditch. Pleasing sponsors for each of the 4 teams would be messy as you would have to designate one team to be the "home side" in each test so the signage could be changed as required.
And would NZR be keen to have all Bledisloe Cup games in Aust?

I think he's dreaming. A run down motel owner telling everyone the solution to their problems is to book out his premises...

My guess is that All Blacks season will be a shortened Rugby Championship in NZ in September/October, then heading north for a some internationals in front of empty or near empty stadiums in November.
-
An ABs home test is part of my Waikato season membership so we would get the ABs vs Argies (again).

I can hear the NZRU now:
'Bovidae's got a season ticket with an AB game - quick, let's schedule one so he can watch'
Just joshing, but it would be awesome if you got one in the Tron. I'd come down again, great stadium. I suspect EP will get a fair number though, with visiting sides
-
Play one test at EP and one at another venue on the same weekend
For example
Week 1 All Blacks Vs Springboks, Eden Park. Australia Vs Argentina, The Tron.
Week 2 All Blacks Vs Argentina, Caketin
Springboks Vs Australia, Eden ParkWeek 3 All Blacks Vs Australia, Eden Park
Springboks Vs Argentina, Dunners. -

I read somewhere this afternoon (I've not been able to find it again), that if this goes ahead, the ABs will only be available for the first three rounds of Mitre 10 Cup.
-
@nzzp My comment was more about if the RC is hosted in NZ then NZR would probably schedule the AB games as they were to be pre-covid to avoid having to refund any season members from the main test venues. NZ vs Arg was to be played in Hamilton.
All Blacks v Australia, 7.35PM, Saturday 15 August, Sky Stadium, Wellington All Blacks v Argentina, 7.35PM, Saturday 29 August, FMG Stadium Waikato, Hamilton All Blacks v South Africa, 7.35PM, Saturday 5 September, Eden Park Auckland
The other games between Aust, SA and Arg would likely be played at the largest stadiums to maximise revenue for all countries.
-
@Machpants I agree and wasn't suggesting all the other games should be at Eden Park. Wellington, Dunners, maybe Albany are also options. Chch and Nelson - no.
-
@Machpants Yep, the Argentina games are good games to play in either Christchurch, or smaller stadiums like Napier, Nelson (or North Harbour).
-
SA should play at Albany mostly. Browns bay is just down the road and is Joburg by the sea, would be plenty of support.

Without the shootings, muggings, rape and carjacking

Browns Bay is a pretty rough hood bro. Some people don't even drink lattes.

I used to work up that way. Scarred me for life mate, that's why I never step out without my Glock

We would have had an AB squad selected by now and be looking forward to the 1st test against Wales this Saturday.

I don't know what test rugby we'll end up with by October.
A TRC based in NZ, a TRC in Perth? Or god-forbid 4 Bledisloes.
If I was NZRU, based on current covid conditions, I would try to arrange a Bledisloe 3-test tour to NZ, with 3 midweek matches v provinces.
Seems to me the 'safest' option - in terms of reducing chances of it all going arse up, and the only way to make the Bledisloe very palatable (for me) ..... is to make it into a tour, not just a 3-match series. 3 Midweek matches v 3 lucky provinces.
Revenue share with the Aussies - as they would play all away.
Too much unknown with the other 2 SANZAAR partners for this year, how can you plan if don't know if any pro rugby will take place for their players before the TRC? Jaguares are scattering to the 4 winds. Too hard, too risky.
A lot can change by October, either positively or negatively. But need to plan on a practical basis on today's likely conditions. 1 squad tour in 1 direction, 1 quarantine period. Crowds (hopefully still).
-
@Rapido most teams go into camp prior anyway, sholdnt be too much of an issue to just make it an 'isolation' camp (assuming all are clear prior to going into camp)
-
Come on. Camp fitness is not match fitness.
It would be hollow playing SAF and Argentina, at home, based on camp fitness.
It would be 'content', though. Maybe that's all that matters.
But risky, difficult and expensive to organise, content, IMO.
-
Anyway. I think the only realistic options on the table is how many Bledisloes they try to organise. Will it be 2, 3 or 4. Will it be home and away? or just in a covid-freeish, crowd capable (at the time of planning) country.
I'm putting forward a way to make a shit idea ( a possible 4 match bledisloe series) into a good idea.
That will cost less than zig-zagging 2 teams over the Ta$man with qurantines for both teams both ways.
Expanded tour squad for midweek matches costs same (in numbers) as 2 test squads travelling home and away.
That will make more money than a behind closed doors match in Sydney.
Gets 6 matches of content instead of 3 or 4. -
@Rapido I was talking about the quarantine aspect of being in camp.

Aust was to have the 2 home BC tests this year so giving us a second home game would be a concession, particularly if we are the only country allowed crowds.
I agree that a lot of planning would be needed if the RC was held in NZ. One of the most important issues would be kickoff times to satisfy the SA and Arg home markets. Whatever SANZAAR finally chooses will be about maximising revenue through TV broadcasting rights and ticket sales.

The All Blacks’ Bledisloe Cup dates may have been accidentally leaked online, according to a report. An NZME report said that broadcast partner Sky Sport released a tweet promoting upcoming rugby on the channel. The tweet included dates for Super Rugby Aotearoa and Australian Super Rugby competitions, which had games confirmed, however at the bottom it included dates for four Bledisloe Cup tests between the All Blacks and the Wallabies. The dates were October 10 and 17, and November 1 and 8, NZME reported. The tweet was deleted. NZME understood the first Bledisloe Cup test was tentatively scheduled for October 10 in Wellington, but the other three test dates remained unfixed. Dave Rennie, former Chiefs coach, has also previously tipped Wellington's Sky Stadium to host the first Bledisloe Cup test of the year on October 10. However none of the matches had been confirmed by New Zealand Rugby.
