Financial incentives from the Ozzie govts will be the turning point, guaranteed money. Cest la vie, you just got to hope outside can actually fill stadiums, Esp if ABs smash em in the first two Bleds, and for the games without Oz. I reckon they'll struggle
Yeah. The aussies aren't going to allow teams to be having any more latitude than what we have indicated. It will be $. RA subsidising with borrowed funds to try and keep the game alive.

@Machpants said in All Blacks Tests 2020:
@Crucial and the governments, state govt already said they will offer incentives to sporting events
So you end up in a pissing contest to get the games.
I dare say that if our govt paid SANZAR to host there would be an outcry of vote buying. If they haven't there's an outcry of 'why didn't you help'.
No win situation really.
If there was a profit element to the country of hosting then they could argue the spend (like Americas Cup) but if just for feel good factor then they would be putting themselves squarely in Judith's sights. -
and confirmed, so early Nov, hopefully NPC teams keep thier ABs for at least 4 rounds (3/4th October)
-
@taniwharugby Bledisloe in early October so I doubt that will happen.
-
@taniwharugby said in All Blacks Tests 2020:
@akan004 oh I missed that, I was just looking at the early November TRC dates
Apparently the Bledisloe games in NZ will be most likely held on the 17th and 24th of October so you may be right, they could leave the ABs in the NPC till early October. I guess it depends on how much time Foster thinks he needs to prepare the team.
-
I'll start with the good news:
Delighted that there will be ABs tests in 2020.
Pleased that the Bledisloe Cup and Rugby Championship are going ahead.
Looking forward to the AB-Boks in particular and our young players getting the chance to challenge the World Champions.Disappointed:
How long this has taken to organise.
The RC is happening in NSW not NZ.
There are only going to be two Tests in NZ in 2020 rather than the 6 scheduled at the start of the year. This will hurt NZR revenues significantly. -

On the plus side less hosting expenses.

@mariner4life AFL Grand final has just been confirmed as 7:30pm (Melbourne time) start. That means it won’t clash with Bledisloe.
Happy days.

Commercial Underwriting is the winning phrase, sadly for NZ
Nope, is all in the fine print. Training from day three (ish) yes, but not as an entire squad...
Fkn stupidAt least this "Robinson also confirmed the staging of the Rugby Championship in Australia would not result in a notable revenue hit on New Zealand. “The difference between it being in New Zealand and Australia wasn’t significant, and it’s not a major for us,” he said. However, it was likely they would have to foot the quarantine bill for the team on its arrival back." so there's revenue sharing
-
And I thought we had clowns running jurisdictions in Australia.
-
I genuinely don't understand why you couldn't have entire squads in their own bubble. What level of bureaucratic intransigence do you have to suggest a bunch of players who fly over together, live in the same hotel can't train together?
-
@antipodean yeah I agree, one big bubble and if there is one case in it, tough shit for your entire team, game over.
