Coronavirus - Australia

what does appear to be of real interest is the "method" of spread
previous "outbreaks" have turned up transmission in, say, the family home. Lots of repeated contact
This time it seems people are getting it off strangers they are passing in shops, or both sitting eating at an outside venue. hence the amount of caution being thrown.
It's interesting to see if this "more contagious" variant spreads quicker but puts less people on hospital, or if we are just waiting for that part (we're still not talking big numbers of cases though).

Actual quotes from the Acting Premier of Victoria:
"We are doing the heavy lifting for all of Australia"
"Everyday is a grim day in a global pandemic"
if this is an elaborate ruse to fast-track the vaccine stuff then he is playing his part perfectly
casual hospitality and retail workers are the collateral damage i guess.

First Shot done, pretty easy, no side effect yet
the biggest critique i have is you have to call up again to book the second one, why not just bok them both at the same time?
-
@kiwiwomble Which vax did you get?
-
@tim Pfizer due to them dropping the age requirement last week
edit: will add i think i would have been ok taking the AZ of they had allowed me to with some sort of waiver, but seeing i could now get Pfizer then all good

That would be too efficient!

Lots of theories about how to reduce the effects. But who knows? Prepare for a day off, just in case
My mate had two days off but I think the second was precautionary.
Still can’t book mine yet even though it’s been a month since I registered. Was hoping to get my first shot before my trip back to me at end of the month.

I read that exercise pre-vax might help. Was a good excuse to hit the treadmill

The vaccine affects people differently, but the consensus is that the first AZ is a bit rough, whilst the second is more or less non-existent. Whereas the Pfizer / Moderna is the opposite.
I went for a 90 min run straight after the AZ and I regretted that big time. Simply amplified the standard achy feeling of a fever.

We booked for a friday in case the second one hit us hard, dont have many sick days left after the whole knee thing

Probably wasn't wise. A bit like going for a run when you get the flu

@canefan I was at school pick up around 30 mins after the vaccine and another Dad there is a Dr. We got chatting and I said I was thinking about it, his advice was to get out there as I wouldn't feel like doing it tomorrow. He was right, I suppose.

Who really knows what works. There is no rhyme or reason to it. But I took it easy after each jab, just in case
