that's the (one of the) stupid things. Lockdown? Everyone who can immediately disburses to all corners
Do they? I just went home (in NZ) when we had our major lockdown. Best place to be, if you are confined, is at home I would have thought, but people are stupid. Packing the car full of shit and going to the bach for an undetermined period of time? No thanks.
The difference though, is that the NZ L4 one was for the whole country. So we had 3 days notice or whatever it was, but then EVERYONE stayed home for a month.
In this case, you give 13 hours notice to allow potentially infected people to disperse and travel to non-infected areas with zero restrictions.
Huge incentive for Victorians to leave the State if they have somewhere to go.
I’ve been interstate for the week. Due to go home to Melbourne tomorrow morning, but because I have to be interstate again on Monday, I am staying put. Doubt I’ll be back in Melbourne until around the 10th or 11th of June (pending any future lockdowns beyond the 7 days)
Man, thats a mess - hope the missus is coping at home with your tribe!

Remembering that this is the time of year for the Mexican Grey Nomads to head north for winter. Vans will already be packed (if they haven't left already of course).

Pikies and Gypos aye. They'll be camping in your back yard by the end of the week. Neighbourhood gone to ruin.

@taniwharugby Wow. I really was under my holiday rock then. Was wife's birthday and in Dunedin, then ZQN. Missed the whole thing until the vineyard. Quite pleased that I did actually, couldn't have changed anything.

@snowy I was away on a school camp 18-20 March which was a pretty interesting time with people all talking about it, kids came home form Camp and I think the Govt had advised on the 22nd that a major announcement was coming monday, my boss had called on that day saying I should come to work on the 23rd day to pick up what I needed to work from home, and go home...it was a pretty surreal experience.

Pretty bloody weird having no idea that it was happening at all too. Then the hotel with no food because they threw it all out, and no other guests. All that was missing was "redrum" not being written on our door.

Thanks bro. Hopefully the contact tracers sort it out.

And so, poor old Victoria continues under a lockdown that people seem sure will be extended
for an extra 5 people a day (off 44-odd thousand tests a day)
and 1 person in hospital. Not in ICU, in hospital.
I struggle to reconcile this response and the talk of extending travel bubbles.
-
@mariner4life They're extending the Melbourne travel bubble to Geelong
Really sucks - hardly Mumbai.

it's actually appalling. But just widely accepted, and anyone publicly against it gets lumped with the "covid is a hoax" loons
-
another 5 days of lockdown for Melbourne
in an alarming development, hospitalisations doubled in the past 24 hours

@mariner4life what, to 2? 🙂
