@mariner4life They're extending the Melbourne travel bubble to Geelong
Really sucks - hardly Mumbai.

it's actually appalling. But just widely accepted, and anyone publicly against it gets lumped with the "covid is a hoax" loons
-
another 5 days of lockdown for Melbourne
in an alarming development, hospitalisations doubled in the past 24 hours

@mariner4life what, to 2? 🙂

what does appear to be of real interest is the "method" of spread
previous "outbreaks" have turned up transmission in, say, the family home. Lots of repeated contact
This time it seems people are getting it off strangers they are passing in shops, or both sitting eating at an outside venue. hence the amount of caution being thrown.
It's interesting to see if this "more contagious" variant spreads quicker but puts less people on hospital, or if we are just waiting for that part (we're still not talking big numbers of cases though).

Actual quotes from the Acting Premier of Victoria:
"We are doing the heavy lifting for all of Australia"
"Everyday is a grim day in a global pandemic"
if this is an elaborate ruse to fast-track the vaccine stuff then he is playing his part perfectly
casual hospitality and retail workers are the collateral damage i guess.

First Shot done, pretty easy, no side effect yet
the biggest critique i have is you have to call up again to book the second one, why not just bok them both at the same time?
-
@kiwiwomble Which vax did you get?
