that's the (one of the) stupid things. Lockdown? Everyone who can immediately disburses to all corners
Do they? I just went home (in NZ) when we had our major lockdown. Best place to be, if you are confined, is at home I would have thought, but people are stupid. Packing the car full of shit and going to the bach for an undetermined period of time? No thanks.
maybe the first time (although i know a few people who spent the first one in Pauanui)
on your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th?

We've only had 2, maybe 3 (or I ignored any others because they were bullshit). I don't live in AKL so I understand why it pisses you off too with boundaries.

I'm not pissed off, i just think it's dumb. Lockdowns are called, starting at a specific time. but up until then you can do pretty much whatever the fuck you want, including leave the area and go somewhere else. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Was it the tennis earlier this year where they made the crowd leave during a match so they could be home in time for lockdown? i mean, what the actual fuck with that?
-
@mariner4life O.K. that sounds like pissed off with stupidity but that is much the same thing.

The difference though, is that the NZ L4 one was for the whole country. So we had 3 days notice or whatever it was, but then EVERYONE stayed home for a month.
In this case, you give 13 hours notice to allow potentially infected people to disperse and travel to non-infected areas with zero restrictions.
Huge incentive for Victorians to leave the State if they have somewhere to go.

Well, just got my notification that I can book my Pfizer shots. Locked in for 13 July and 3 August.
yeah apparently i can get one any time, will try for next week
-
@mariner4life I think I was eligible immediately from now, my closest place was just booked out for most of June - which is good! Maybe MLB is the kick in the arse people needed?

I’ve been interstate for the week. Due to go home to Melbourne tomorrow morning, but because I have to be interstate again on Monday, I am staying put. Doubt I’ll be back in Melbourne until around the 10th or 11th of June (pending any future lockdowns beyond the 7 days)

Don't think that we did. It was a matter of hours. I was sitting in a vineyard having lunch when the staff came and told us that they had to close. L4 was that night and we were stranded in an empty hotel until I could get a flight home.

According to one news bulletin this morning, Melbourne is in a desperate fight for survival. FFS.

Not sure that's right because we contemplated trying to move from QT to Palmy before the deadline and also thought about shifting QT accommodation for different digs - but couldn't technically do either because we were still in self-isolation?
-
@voodoo I'm not sure either, but it certainly came as a surprise when we were sitting there. We were on holiday but I usually watch the news and we had the radio on in the car. We were blissfully unaware of what was going to happen if it was several days.
Anyone remember the lead time?

Remembering that this is the time of year for the Mexican Grey Nomads to head north for winter. Vans will already be packed (if they haven't left already of course).

Pikies and Gypos aye. They'll be camping in your back yard by the end of the week. Neighbourhood gone to ruin.

@taniwharugby Wow. I really was under my holiday rock then. Was wife's birthday and in Dunedin, then ZQN. Missed the whole thing until the vineyard. Quite pleased that I did actually, couldn't have changed anything.
