Chappell-Hadlee Series

Very timid batting display. It's all very well keeping wickets in hand, but you've got to be prepared to take some calculated risks and play some shots at the Aussie bowlers or they'll be all over you.
Guppy and Nicholls proceeded to push the run-rate over 6 while using up the power play overs, which of course requires the lower order to make up for their timidity.

Seeing reports that the series has been canned

It’s incredibly annoying watching Nicholls and Guppie scratching around for the first 15 overs, using up valuable balls and then getting out for scores under 30. You’d prefer them to just have a crack from the outset so that the next guys coming in either have a few runs or at least plenty of time to work with. What you don’t want is guys like Kane and Rossco being forced to score as soon as they get to the crease

Well, that was an interesting trip! We became aware whilst flying that the GP had been cancelled and assumed there wouldn't be any cricket at all. At least we were able to pitch up at The Oaks in the garden bar and sit in the sun watching on a big screen, eating scallops and jamon croquettes! And due to the buzz in the bar, we were almost oblivious to the lack of atmosphere at the ground. Then on Saturday the double whammy of Jacinda's self isolation policy, and the series cancellation. It ws a frenzy for all of us changing our flights home to get in before the new conditions kicked in!
