I'm really, really hating this regression to past BC sides that snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. None of these games should have made it to a super over for starters. As for our giant chokes within the super overs...DAMN. 4-0 drubbing that could have so easily been 2-2 if we weren't a bunch of farking idiots.

To be fair, this Indian team is much better than the Black Caps and a 4-0 scoreline is a fair reflection. India imploded and from 88-6 they should never have posted 165 - if the BCs had a half-decent pace attack, which of course they don't.
NZ has paddling pool depth and nobody with quality appears to be coming through in all formats of the game. Taylor is about to hit 100 games each of test, ODI, T20 and surely he won't play for much longer - so there's the batting about to be weakened even further. Even young Kane isn't so young any more, Boult and Southee are getting long in the tooth and some young starlets are needed fast.
Then again, it is only T20 cricket. At the moment. There are test matches to be lost soon.

@KiwiPie you're right, but at the same time Ross and Kane should have finished that game the other night. Ross should have finished that last night. That's nothing to do with depth, that's our two best ever batsmen choking at the death.
I'm far from convinced about our tactics and mental application under the Kane/Stead combo. I think it's too conservative, and the longer we have this set up the more into our shells we go. Aus ruthlessly exposed that once they got an early upper hand and India under Kohli will as well.
We will never have great depth, so our attitude and tactics need to be in point. Right now they're way off.

@No-Quarter Kane is a long way from being an excellent captain. And getting little help from the current coaching team

@No-Quarter Australia's fast bowlers are at least twice as good as New Zealand's in their own conditions and we'd just had a series with England playing on slow puddings. There's only so far mental conditioning and strategy can take you when you don't have the tools in your toolbox. If we want to be able to bat well in Aus then we need similar pitches here rather than the puddings which made Archer look gentle.
We also need those pitches to get a set of bowlers who can hurl it down at 140+ AND control their line and length. At the moment we have trundlers who don't know where the next ball is heading. What is Southee even trying to achieve these days?
Sure Kane should have finished that 3rd game off but it was only him taking to Bumrah (a rare event) that avoided another thrashing.
What I'm trying to point out in my rather grumpy way (I've been sick in bed a few days) is that India bowl well in the key moments. They bowl fast, just short of a length or slow bouncers or yorkers but all designed to make it tricky to hit when you are desperate to get bat on ball. It's the essence of T20 and India are better than NZ.

Almost won a Cricket World Cup though .... drew the final in fact. Whereas BMAC choked badly when he had his chance.
We always complain when it is Sri Lanka and Bangladesh here in our summer but we're a lot better at cricket in those summers.
