All Black Coach - Ian Foster

I'd like to see Razor, just cause I want to see a little shake up and he is probably the most diverse.
Foster would obviously be a continuation of the current selections/tactics. Robertson would probably be the next closest.
I think every other candidate would make more significant changes.
What do you mean by most 'diverse'? Robertson would have the most narrow cv?

@Billy-Tell said in [Poll] Next All Black Coach:
I can never take mains seriously. Just about the worst winning percentage of any recent AB coach. Including losing to that world XV at home. Not to mentio the French in 1994.
'The All Blacks need a coach not a Laurie'
I agree. Doesn't make him wrong on everything though.. his comments on the possible coaches were spot on

Gatland would be my dream ticket with Brown as attack coach, and Robertson as forwards coach (and as apprentice to take over from Gatland in head role after 2023).
Let Gatland take a sabbatical during his British Lions year, and Robertson steps up for a year as job experience bonus.
I dont think theres any coaching IP left to be worried about Gatland taking with him on his sabbatical.

@Chester-Draws Blackadder? Whenever I hear that name I think role player and plodder, kind of like a draught horse. We need dynamic big and strong players at international level.
Smiley Barrett was a role player and plodder, kind of like a draught horse...

Whoever the next AB coach is, I don't wnat to see this sort of puerile crap.
"England's Eddie Jones hits back at Gatland: 'Enjoy the third-place play-off'"
See I don’t really mind that. Maybe I’ve been living in OZ too long and Eddie’s just doing what Eddie does (and many Aussie coaches would respond). But a bit of colour in return when someone has taken a swipe isn’t that bad.

It's more common in the NH too. I think some coaches like to take the pressure off the players by making the enormous media concentrate on them.
For instance, Hansen was a complete twat when he coached Wales and it seemed like he was forcing controversy with every comment
-
Being passionate is one thing. Acting like a soccer manager is another.
Loathe this sort of stuff no matter where it comes from.

Maybe. But I'm thinking "Big ego....look at me!"

Recent comments from Rennie:
“Probably the easiest way to clarify this is that I know there’s lots of speculation in the media that I’ve already signed [a contract with Australia] and people have been informed and all this sort of stuff,” he said. "That’s not accurate. I haven’t signed, and I will definitely be here till the end of this season, which is the end of June (2020).
“I’ll just reiterate: regardless of what happens to me beyond this season, I’m here for the full season. It’s important to me. I’m committed to the Warriors and I won’t leave earlier.” Asked whether he would be interested in coaching the Wallabies, Rennie said he would jump at the chance. "Yeah, I think we’ve discussed this before, so yeah, absolutely," he said. "I guess what I’m implying is there’s lots of talk about this and I’m already committed [to Glasgow], you know. There’s a lot of speculation, as there has been for months.”
So there appears to be no reason why he couldn't throw his name into the hat for the ABs.

@Bovidae June 2020 is a late start getting then into first tests in July
I'm sure "I wont leave earlier" wouldn't stick so hard and fast if the job was the ABs as opposed to the Wobblies.

Exactly. The main point is that he hasn't signed with the ARU yet as the media was reporting.
-
@Machpants he's worked with Wayne Smith before, surely Wayne could work with the team until Rennie arrives, and then just stick around and help.
So who would Rennie bring with him as assistants?
-
Graham Mourie spoke on RS yesterday about the process of applying/appointing a coach.

@Higgins said in [Poll] Next All Black Coach:
@sparky Why would you pick players that still need coaching in rugby skills? They are All Blacks so you would expect them to have those bases covered before getting selected thus no need to have a Specialist Coach Skills apointee.
So you recall Muck Byrne?

I don’t have any issues with Wayne Smith, but I’m kinda looking forward to a completely new setup with guys that haven’t been involved in the recent past.
So if we don’t have to I’m hoping three brand newbies that can bring in something fresh and also grow and learn together.
-
@ACT-Crusader my comment wasnt serious...it is likely to be completely new, so makes you wonder who will work with who...
Who would Fozzie bring in?
Assume JJ would bring Brown, who else?
Who would Razor bring? Will any of the above be talking to one another about working together?

There have been stories in the media that Brown has been approached by both Foster and Robertson, and he already has a relationship with Joseph. He will be in demand.
NZR will want to get this finalised ASAP because there could be flow-on effects for super rugby teams losing personnel close to the start of the 2020 season.
