@The-Irishman if both teams play to thier potential, who wins?
Most kiwis are confident in that IF we play to our potential, we should win; but we know sport isnt that simple, a couple of players have an off day and all of a sudden, we are no where near our potential...the margins are fine, add in the variables of human nature (players and ref) and makes it even more squeaky...

That said, someone did that last time too didnt they? There are always some more, confident....
I reckon if both theams play as good as they can, then I think we win, no question.

This is the most nervous/excited I've been for a game in around 6 days.
to bring up one i used 8 years ago
I haven't been this nervous about a semi since i watched Brokeback Mountain
You watched Brokeback mountain?
-
A Hell of a game coming up I think we can get up over the line but pretty nervous

@The-Irishman said in RWC: England v New Zealand (SF1):
This was always the crunch game for me between the two best sides in the world (yes, England are better than SA, no matter what you SH folk believe). Who ever wins will most certainly win the cup I feel.
The kiwis are confident and expecting their team to win comfortably, in most cases anyway. Who would blame them? But I feel England will be a very very tough proposition. This will be a tight game. If I was a betting man, I'd give this one a skip.
Really looking forward to this clash, since before the competition started in fact. These teams were always on a collision course.
My dilemma is who to support! I love the NZ team and Hansen, great coach and funny guy with his dry wit. NZ fans on the other hand? I'll keep that to myself on here! It's the complete opposite for England. Don't like their team or manager but their fans are grand and they are our neighbours.
I'll decide on the day!!
I get where you're coming from. We're generally confident to the point of over confidence.
And we always expect to win.
The only time I thought we would lose was 1990 v France and we won 24-3.
As above some of us can be a little strident in our support like @kiwiinmelb pointed out.
Not sure you enjoyed our categorisation of Irish as whingers in the lead up to last week. May have tainted your appreciation of us?
I'm picking a win by about 10. But it's 60/40 in my opinion.
Strangely calm about the outcome though. Not like 2011!! Although tension building at the edges as we get closer to kick off.

Prediction:
End of the golden era. England by 6.

Still been World Champions and (except for two weeks) number one in the world.
But I take your point, signs of a slight decline and gaps in the armour have been there for a little while. I think Eddie has been watching and taking notes.
England by 6. Some else to get their hands on the 🏆.
-
If both team play to their capabilities, and there are no cards, then ABs win comfortably. But knock out rugby ain't that simple. However if we get knocked out it won't be the end of ABs as world's best team overall. And then I'll be go Wales, or England, so we still have the most cups!
-
Beat thing about this article is Reason saying he's English . The rest is dross.
-
Well if we lose, silver lining. Foster won't be new head coach....
And of course there's chinks in the armour, but the armour is constantly evolving. I mean, I haven't seen the All Black forwards play that directly since first Lions test last series.
And as an aside, all this 'knowing how to beat All Blacks' shit past players are spouting.
Lion's second test last series? So they need to get an AB sent off after 24 minutes, that's a tough game plan to implement on a regular basis methinks!
Boers last year? Get the ABs to gift you 21 points and then hang on!!I think the only real beating up of the ABs the last few years is Paddies in Chicago and Convicts in Perth. The rest of the losses are just the ABs running out of time to win 😉

Kiwis are confident in winning comfortably? Where do you get this dross from?
Against Ireland, definitely but this is a rugby team for sure we are up against
From every forum, here, back home, youtube, facebook, Twitter, need more? That's where I'm getting this "dross" from.
Because it’s the number 1 sport we tend to have a lot of casual type fans , don’t follow it that closely , bandwagon types , and are just so used to winning they take it for granted. And are more likely to be hanging out in public forums spouting bullshit .
Like the Irish in the last five years...
Then we have a lot of more knowledge fans who you probably are not likely to meet unless you make a rugby trip to Nz ( or here ) these are the more cautious ones with this game ., I can tell you plenty of kiwis are nervous about this game
I definitely am. I also think this has been South Africa's RWC to lose ever since Ireland lost to Japan.

That has been Richie lately so I'm happy to nominate someone else like Kieran.
There is no point worrying 24 h before the game. I might be a little nervous come kickoff time, but that is a good thing. The best test matches to watch as a fan are those where the result and how the game unfolds is uncertain.
I say we have a close win and continue the streak against England in RWCs.
-
I'm worried, that like the 2015 quarterfinal/semifinal combo. We're still spent after splunking all over the ceiling. Wasting our precious seed on an Irish team that was dropping the ball left, right and centre on the big night.
Not that I'm saying they should have saved some of their seed, I was worried and pent up myself.
Hoping England are equally over-exuberant from their quartetfinal. Because 2019 England is way ahead of 2015 South Africa if we turn up still sleepy.
-
I'm pretty calm actually. Team is settled, and has good form.
If we lose, we are losing to a good team who will play well. This isn't some choke job in the making (like Ta$man), this is a genuine line-ball world cup semi final.

Im pretty calm considering also ,
backing us to win ,why not ,
but am probably in a better position to accept a loss than i can remember ,
losing would hurt , but it hasnt been 24 years since we last won one anymore

I'll be nervous before the game but only for the possibility of us having a poor day and England a great day.
I don't think it's arrogant to think we should be firm favourites despite England being a good team.
One win against us in the last 16 attempts. Failed to pick off a tired, end of year, powder dry ABs in fortress Twickers last meeting. Have been planning for four years but only settled recently before seeing our variable pod system/ variable fullback setup etc.
If we don't win it will be because the players failed to execute or a rogue card was pulled. -
Has England ever beaten a team ranked above them at a RWC?

@Bones said in RWC: England v New Zealand (SF1):

Good question. Oz would have been below them at the start of the 2003 tournament but possibly close by the week of the final.
Probably need to go to that Pick and go site and work it out. -
Sitting in Yokohama... a shitload of rain coming down.
Even if there's none tomorrow, the pitch is going to be a soft muddy sty.

I looked it up and there was indeed a RWC that year. It looks possible that France would have been ranked one place higher than England in their semi-final

@ACT-Crusader a quote from some famous quarterback I think.
I've never lost a game, but I've run out of time in plenty of occasions.
Something like that...
I think it epitomises the AB mindset, not that they'd say that of course.
But I, an arrogant AB fan can 😅

just watching the Hansen presser below. He's a legend, relaxed in his own skin, playing the media, honest, disarming and a great advertisement for rugby. I'll miss him when he's finished. Dead set legend, no matter what happens from here.
