RWC: England v New Zealand (SF1)

@Snowy Better 13 than him at the mo. Really interested.... Such a different jersey to 12 and he has owned it through too many victories in a structure I would never have messed with if I was Hansen to think otherwise. Long conversation about 13 vs 12 but he has been ridiculously solid for ages despite that mullet

Drinking a lot of beer here in SA too. My heart was sold on an AB Bok final. Iām bleak. Commiserations. Heartfelt.

@Snowy when do you want this coat fabric bud?
Was going to start with that guy with the 2019 tattoo That sort of jinxing is worthy.
Still thinking about the rest of them. I'll start with the forwards then work smaller clothing from the backs.
I have a small female pelt with a few blonde hairs left sticking out.

Super disappointed in our performance. But not super surprised. England have been building nicely for 2 years now and would have been targeting this match. We fell into the old trap of trying to play their game. Hell we even picked a team to combat theirs. A confident team picks their team to play their way.
The start was absolutely turgid. You won't see a softer try then that. Even school boys would be ashamed of that defence. When that didn't trigger any sort of response Perth 2.0 was on the cards. Our defense was the most passive I have seen.
With Owens as the ref is crazy how few rucks we contested. And for all this red head blue head stuff. When the pressure came on our discipline turned to shit.
My only complaint with Owens is that shoulder hit has been a card all cup. Not even a penalty is just a bad call. Not that we wouldn't have lost anyway.
I know the All Blacks like leaders all over the park. But this two play makers thing annoys me. You need someone running the cutter. Some one to say right I'm changing things. I don't see how this works with 2 10s on the park.
Anyway it's only a game we had a great run. I can't say I have any strong feelings towards any of the teams still in. So good luck to them all.

It was nice knowing Bonesetta.

@Snowy Goodhue still number one is his jersey globally by a country mile in my book...and the amount of number 2 jerseys after today in your team globally is still probably pretty high
Let's see how Jonathan Davies goes tomorrow

Agreed.
But even if he'd gone perfect he couldn't ref the final

Who the fuck put this highlights package together?
The stare down of the Haka was important but over a minute of a 4.30 highlight instead of the lead up to the English try.
You had one job.

It's not about that though. It's just as a fan it rubs you wrong when you think of the inconsistency.

I thought it was a YC and was being sarcastic about no final.

I was seduced by our performance in the QF, but our forwards couldn't make inroads up front today, and everything fell apart from there. England's defence suffocated any chances we created, and they placed an assertive posession game that we couldn't compete with. We were lucky the score was not worse for us

The most annoying thing was the lack of composure. We had to steal that game despite being outplayed...but each half-chance was buried by a forced offload, not avoiding touch etc. Other than not starting Cane, I don't see any other forwards in NZ that could have changed the pack for the better. BFA and maybe Laumape of all people might have helped in the backs.
Think 2020 should be about rebuilding, starting with looking at some up and coming talent for the pack.

Cane's exclusion was baffling, why mess with the blossoming combination of Read, Savea and Cane? Our forwards failed to go up the guts which was a smart play, we seemed obsessed with spreading it wide even though that wasn't working. Not sure that's personnel, rather tactics

Yeah I have to say I was getting angry pretty early in the game thinking of Shags words about wanting height and us being so ineffectual at the lineout.
