Townsend having a whinge about the late scrum penalty against Samoa
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/49959867

I thought at the time it was easily the crookedest feed I'd ever seen, so the penalty seemed entirely justified to me. Certainly not sure that I agree with Townsend when he says ""I think it's an incredible call to be honest. It's something that has not been refereed and there's been an agreement that there is more latitude for scrum-halves putting the ball in because you are the team that's won the scrum." Shouldn't coaches know the laws?

    From the laws:

"The scrum-half chooses which side of the scrum to throw in the ball. (I had no idea this was an option!)
The scrum-half holds the ball as shown in the diagram.
When both sides are square, stable and stationary, the scrum-half throws in the ball:

    • From the chosen side.
    • From outside the tunnel.
    • Without delay.
    • With a single forward movement.
    • At a quick speed.
    • Straight. The scrum-half may align their shoulder on the middle line of the scrum, thereby standing a shoulder-width closer to their side of the scrum.
*So that it first touches the ground inside the tunnel."

Running scared and getting his excuses in early.

Scotland was the beneficary of the short turn around at the last WC after Japan had beaten SA.

Now the boot is on the other foot.

    Come on Japan.

The funniest result though would be Samoa beating Ireland and Scotland beating japan. Japan and Scotland go through.

That isn't even really a scenario though is it? That is just Ireland turned up to the RWC and lost to Japan and Samoa so didn't make the QFs.

Most of the funniest scenarios (three way tie on 15 points with Ireland being eliminated) are off the table with Ireland having a higher for and against than Japan.

Scotland to go through. I think the Japan run is over.

The Jocks aren't a bad team.

    Oh they are.

You just don't want Japan to top the pool 🙂

The latter part is absolutely correct, but not behind my thinking.

Scots were made to look worse than they are by Ireland and vice versa for Japan. I think it's close to 50/50 but Scotland should edge it.

The fortune too big to risk?
But the others not so much...? :face_with_stuck-out_tongue_winking_eye:

Well, I'm staking my lead in the work tipping competition -- which is worth more than my reputation -- on Japan winning by ten.

Sounds like there might also be a Typhoon rolling in which could throw a cat amongst the pigeons

I pray for the safety and well-being of all in harms way, but let that typhoon rip through and see what happens to the draw 😉

Looks like it will be cancelled too. Horrible way to go out for Scotland.

This fixture has already been played.
