that is one of the most ridiculous things i have ever seen. he's not serious about playing in those is he? I'm being merked here right?
It may look unusual, but protecting your eyesight is more important than looking cool.
i couldn't give a fuck about how it looks.
As someone who lives and spends a lot of time training in a high heat, high humidity environment, i have a little experience about how glasses and goggles deal with it. I'll be very interested to see how he deals with that. If he drops a ball because there is sweat on his lenses people are going to lose their shit.
Agree ... I know plenty of tennis players who wear glasses in everyday life. None of them wear them on the court.
Donβt know why Ardie doesnβt just get contact lenses like all the others
-
Because they are to protect his other eye. Reading between the lines he is going blind in his left eye, and wants to protect his right eye from possible damage. They aren't glasses, they are goggles. He may well be wearing contacts underneath.
"Savea said when he realised that he could potentially lose his sight if his other eye was damaged, then it had been an easy decision to make."
-
To add to @Machpants post: not everyone can wear contact lenses due to medical/eye conditions. I'm one of them.
-
perhaps, if you are in danger of going fucking blind from playing rugby, you should give it away?

Don't know if anyone saw (Or mentioned) a sound bite from.Hansen on Jordie.
He said that with older siblings in the team he can sometimes try too hard at proving himself for bros and misses the odd step and sometimes needs to slow down a bit.
That wasn't verbatim but thought it was an interesting point that I hadn't considered, when living in the shadows of your brothers, particularly Beauden who usually dominates headlines.
Ingrained sibling rivalry or competition doesn't stop when you become an AB, especially as the youngest.
3:00 in. Interesting thoughts. I do hope he is on the Nonu pathway, different character and style of play but it very much falls into the catagory of he is going to figure it out and be a legend, or not figure it out and be serviceable, but a constant frustration.
-
@rotated it's been pretty self-evident that he has been trying too much since his debut v the Lions, which is where he comes unstuck. A couple of games for the Canes this year he just did the basics and absolutely carved up, was the difference between a close loss and a comfortable win. When he plays within himself he's world class.

fucking wait on. He's a decent player but you don't need to pile all over it.
-
I find it a bit odd that someone who is 22yrs old, has played 50+ provincial games plus 7 times for the NZ U20's and 12 times for the AB's, is still trying too much "to impress his big bro".
It's one thing to still be getting a bit overawed by being on the biggest stage (haven't seen To'eava mentioned round here for a while...), but if he's still trying to impress his brothers then I'm a bit concerned!!!
-
in all seriousness though, i thought we all agreed not to trust a single thing that comes out of Steve's mouth at a press conference?

@voodoo id except trying to be better than your brother/s is something that the other brother/s have been trying to since forever.
Kane and Abel...true story.
I don't have any brothers so no 1st hand knowledge. But if have though sibling rivalry would be left at the fucking door along with the provincial version when you make it to the big dance.
-
Do none of you have a younger brother?

there's only 4 days between Canada and Namibia - so I supsect all the available players will roll out next week. Cane, Retallick if fit, etc
I'd say it's either Cane or BFA as captain in the Namibia game. Read and Whitelock to be rested.
