I reckon there's an outside change we might see Rieko, Jordie and Bender in the back three in one of the "big" games during this tournament.

How funny would it be if our super secret powder dry game plan was to grind in the forwards to win penalties and then have Jordie slotting them from 55 m out with an aim to score 15 points πŸ™‚ The meltdown would be something to behold ...

Or better yet 10 man rugby for Richie to slot over drop goals....

I really do hope that is in the plans somewhere - if needed.

1st time these teams have met in a RWC group match.

Really? I could have sworn we’ve had them in our pool once before...

Played them in 95 Final, 03 QF, 15 QF

    15 SF. Being pedantic.

99 3rd place playoff being truly pedantic

@Snowy or they'll spanner us all and throw SBW/Crotty into the mid-field.

Quite likely - they do talk up experience a lot.

So we then need two mid fielders on the bench.

The thing is, Crotty isn't that much more experienced that ALB.

OK, Crotty's been around a bit longer, but ALB has played almost as many tests (38 caps vs 45), and while Crotty has a lot more Super Rugby games, it's not like someone gets that much better after the first 70-odd.

The only reason I'd start Crotty is because if he breaks as a starter he can be replaced. Whereas if he breaks as a replacement then we are in a bit of poo.

that has often been talked about as the way to do things when a player was coming back from injury or wasnt 100%, you start them, then you control thier gametime, whereas you have them on the bench, and the guy they are to replace injures themselves in minute 3....

99th time the All Blacks will have play the Old Foe.

    That's pretty cool.

So possible for the 100th on the biggest stage.

That, my friend, would be a storyline from Boys-own.
Which, if the case, and given that they will be the underdogs, of course means the Boks win the RWC πŸ˜‰

Nah Buff Boks are def favourites

A Sunday Times rugby panel at a London World Cup gathering saw three of the four pundits opting for the Boks to win their third World Cup.

They look like they are on an interesting training program πŸ€”

Don't recall much past halftime in the 99 semi ... especially given there were no more games after that ...

Yeah getting shredded maybe not ideal for the grind of 80+ minutes of test rugby

It almost certainly isn't. Unleashing the dual playmakers in the 2nd 40 may be the way to go when their big boys start tiring.

It’s a little suspect to have that kind of mass with the cardio requirements of rugby. I would genuinely like to see their training program.

I'd much prefer to see them hitting the wall by the 65th minute

If the ABs lose this game, it shouldtn't be a disaster as the Boks would then face England in the semi final.

But we would have to face the number 1 side in the world in the quarter final !!!

It's a squeaky tight RWC this time around.
I don't think either the Bok or AB camp see an easier side of the draw developing.
So while each team would desperately want to win the opening pool encounter, I don't think either will be devastated by a loss.
