All the same thing a severe depression usually formed in the tropics but obviously they move out side of that zone.
Tornados are a different thing of cour

assume the cyclic nature of them differs by hemisphere too (much like water down a drain)

Indeed it does. Sth hemisphere clockwise, North anticlockwise. Should just go from high to low pressure but coriolis effect makes them effectively spin.

    @taniwharugby Oceans (roughly) or regions.
    Cyclones - South Pacific,
    Typhoons North West Pacific, Indian,
    Hurricanes Atlantic.

All the same thing a severe depression usually formed in the tropics but obviously they move out side of that zone.
Tornados are a different thing of course.

Edit: see that you have edited!

We should campaign for the Hurricanes to change their name to more accurately reflect the South Pacific...

Those mad buggers that fly into Hurricanes to study them must enjoy turbulence...

Welly doesn't even get cyclones as a rule - more ex tropical depressions, which would be a pretty shit name for a rugby team.

Flown through enough of them to seriously not like. Pretty cool going over the top of them though.

When does this RWC thing start? Met talk for two weeks is going to get a bit dull.

I assume it's just the same as flying into Wellington Airport in the city where the Wellington Cyclones rugby team is based.

Pretty much. As mentioned above they would be the "Wellington ex tropical depressions".

Going to make some posters names a bit long winded (yes). Ex tropical depression4life doesn't sound too good, nor ex tropical depression fan.

If the ABs lose this game, it shouldtn't be a disaster as the Boks would then face England in the semi final.

But we would have to face the number 1 side in the world in the quarter final !!!

It's a squeaky tight RWC this time around.
I don't think either the Bok or AB camp see an easier side of the draw developing.
So while each team would desperately want to win the opening pool encounter, I don't think either will be devastated by a loss.

The NZ public and media will go into meltdown if the ABs lose. The Fern will implode...

Let me be so presumptuous as to speak on behalf of New Zealanders and the Fern: Nah, I think you're wrong.

There won't be dancing in the streets, but there won't be wailing and gnashing of teeth either.

Hmmm, I think there will be a bit of wailing and gnashing.

Look at what happened after the loss to Oz.

Hansen's innumerable selection errors will be highlighted.

Whoever played on the wing will be culpable. The midfield selections will be wrong - and the lack of combination developed an appalling oversight. The two pivots theory a disaster - need out best first five playing first five and our best fullback playing fullback. Playing two opensides will be ridiculous. Either Barrett or Tuipolotou should have started, but both of them are sacks of shit and we are fucked without Brodie. Crazy leaving Owen Franks at home and Joe Moody cannot catch a cold. Taylor should have started with Coles on the bench (or vice-versa). Read is too old. Crotty and SBW too injury prone. About 12 of the squad are known mental defectives and most of the others have tits for hands.

    I hope @Duluth has some predictive text options in the upgrade;

"We lost because there were too many Crusaders in the team!"
"We lost because there were't enough Crusaders in the team!"
"I blame [insert coach/player/team/the helpers in the kitchen here]!"

    Bring on the games...

    Think Bridge has to start.
My main concern is that our heavy hitters - Cane, Goodhue and SBW will be underdone.
There will be huge pressure on our front 5. Hopefully our x-factor loosies will make up for that.

Maybe. They may play the team that rolled out against Tonga, and carry only one or two players who weren't there. After the SA game there are three ina row to come up to speed; the first will no doubt be the reserves, and then building into two games to peak for the quarters.

But hey, we just don't know what that's goign to look like

Start him at first 5 with BB on the bench and Smith at Full Back.

Given some of his deer in the headlights performances this year I’d have him on the bench for impact if Smith is at 15. He’s done really well off the bench for the ABs in the past.

I would be happy with that. I'm just against Smith starting but out of position. I still believe he is our best full back

Agree. A backline bench of TJP, ALB and Bender is a pretty good problem to have.

They could have called us the Capitals. And we've won the same number of titles as the Washington team of the same name too
