George Bridge was interviewed, said tonight was the first time his folks have seen him play a test match. Priceless
His parents have been keeping their powder dry.

To be fair he's only played 4 tests?

My one real gripe. Patty T is not great at lineout and with Savea ALL hair at 6 it leaves two real targets. Read got double teamed once in second. Possibly a factor in two Coles overthrows to back.
That said, Patty T seems to have learned how to scrum, and maybe Sam W playing TH lock for Chch has allowed PT to move to LH, which seems better for him.
Bring the Giraffe into the line
He's even taller than Ardie if you can believe it
I need photo and video evidence.

My tuppence before reading the thread.
I avoided Fernage during the game so not sure how we were feeling at any stage.
Anyways ... in no particular order ...
- Someone take Dane Coles prescription for angry pills off him
- Was that the dumbest in from the side penalty ever conceded by anyone conceded by Moody?
- "Hi Kurtley. I'm Patrick."
- "Hi Kurtley. I'm Patrick. I believe we've met."
- MOTM thread is going to be interesting. I'll feel guilty not voting for at least five players.
- Goal kicking!! Cost them more than us thankfully.
- Scrums!! The 7 man scrum fucking them up was a thing of beauty.
- Much like last week I did not see that coming. I was suitably concerned.
- So our number 9 IS Aarron Smith not some imposter.
- Wingers were good. Not sure how I feel about that. Am massive fanboi of both Bender and Rieko.
- So is
BenOwen Franks going to finish his All Black career without a try? - Yay us.

Yep Ben Franks will as he finished awhile ago
I'm pretty sure Ben Franks scored two tries eh

The best All Black performance since Lions test 1 2017.
Beautiful stuff.
Brilliant tactics in the wet.
Aaron Smith absolutely sensational at halfback.
The tactics were far better. Direct running, kicks turning them around, clearance kicks from the base.
Players with question marks reallt stood up - Mounga, Bridge, Reece, SBW, the loosies, Tuipulotu. Just awesome.
Really hope Mounga is ok.
I've often said on here that Test 1 vs BIL is our template - even thought to myself partway through the first half, "geez this feels a bit like that game - we also need to get some more points soon" then Richie goes in to score.

One position where I'm unconcerned about who starts. TJP was been exceptional this year and AS outstanding tonight.

Pat T changed my perception this week. A great game in black
Amazing how different the scrum was despite the past 3 years, you make one change, and well, I can't remember any tier 1 test scrum of 7 beasting an eight like tonight.
All very comforting for sure but, can I question where that intensity was versus Ireland on a couple of recent occasions?
But, yeah well done everyone, a fine tune against Tonga and then do as you see fit in Japan, shag.
yeh that England 6 that held our our AB's 8 in 2003. Good omen.

Great news

Yeeah obviously we had to wet a little bit of powder at some stage or whatever the analogy, which is a bit of a concern.
Players now "proven at this level":
Mo'unga
Reece
BridgeAnd fuckin' go Kieran Read, MOM surely, those eye sockets had a whole new crazy bloody hunger tonight, looked like a leader except for when he didn't do enough to calm down Dane Coles.
Nice to see Beauden getting at least one of the hard kicks
A Smith v TJP about equal still for me
ALB was everywhere but could get more direct
Thoughts and Prayers to Mo'ungaWallabies obviously shit the bed.

Happy with that , but not getting carried away
Put me in the same basket. In general Australia's style of play flatters the ABs at times. Plus there were pretty obvious signs of PTSD from the past decade after those back-to-back tries around the the 30 minute mark.
If your Gatland/Schmidt/Erasmus was there anything that was insurmountable? All three would back their sides to match the physicality, not get dominated at set piece and be less daft with the ball. They might be wrong, but they'll do better than Aus.
The positive thing as an ABs fan was it was good to see them to inflict some massive psychological damage in the first half for once. It feels like forever since we've seen a side have the "it's just not our day today" look of resignation which was a staple of the Henry and early Hansen eras. The Home Unions are improved since then, but in a RWC knockout game and with all the pressure and history that goes with those a 14 point lead after 30 minutes may as well be 40.

One of the features of the 2013-15 ABs was their ability to grind down the opposition in the forwards. There was one push-over try we scored against England at Twickenham in the rain after about 20 phases which seemed to crush their spirit.
That's been lacking but there were flashes of it tonight.
