- So our number 9 IS Aarron Smith not some imposter.
One position where I'm unconcerned about who starts. TJP was been exceptional this year and AS outstanding tonight.

Pat T changed my perception this week. A great game in black
Amazing how different the scrum was despite the past 3 years, you make one change, and well, I can't remember any tier 1 test scrum of 7 beasting an eight like tonight.
All very comforting for sure but, can I question where that intensity was versus Ireland on a couple of recent occasions?
But, yeah well done everyone, a fine tune against Tonga and then do as you see fit in Japan, shag.
yeh that England 6 that held our our AB's 8 in 2003. Good omen.

Great news

Yeeah obviously we had to wet a little bit of powder at some stage or whatever the analogy, which is a bit of a concern.
Players now "proven at this level":
Mo'unga
Reece
BridgeAnd fuckin' go Kieran Read, MOM surely, those eye sockets had a whole new crazy bloody hunger tonight, looked like a leader except for when he didn't do enough to calm down Dane Coles.
Nice to see Beauden getting at least one of the hard kicks
A Smith v TJP about equal still for me
ALB was everywhere but could get more direct
Thoughts and Prayers to Mo'ungaWallabies obviously shit the bed.

@booboo So is Ben Franks going to finish his All Black career without a try?
Yep Ben Franks will as he finished awhile ago
I'm pretty sure Ben Franks scored two tries eh
Not my point Mate

Happy with that , but not getting carried away
Put me in the same basket. In general Australia's style of play flatters the ABs at times. Plus there were pretty obvious signs of PTSD from the past decade after those back-to-back tries around the the 30 minute mark.
If your Gatland/Schmidt/Erasmus was there anything that was insurmountable? All three would back their sides to match the physicality, not get dominated at set piece and be less daft with the ball. They might be wrong, but they'll do better than Aus.
The positive thing as an ABs fan was it was good to see them to inflict some massive psychological damage in the first half for once. It feels like forever since we've seen a side have the "it's just not our day today" look of resignation which was a staple of the Henry and early Hansen eras. The Home Unions are improved since then, but in a RWC knockout game and with all the pressure and history that goes with those a 14 point lead after 30 minutes may as well be 40.

One of the features of the 2013-15 ABs was their ability to grind down the opposition in the forwards. There was one push-over try we scored against England at Twickenham in the rain after about 20 phases which seemed to crush their spirit.
That's been lacking but there were flashes of it tonight.

Result was great
Performance was okayI still don't think our personell and tactics is going to be this effective against certain teams. The wallabies rolled over a bit today.
Certain things probably ticked a few boxes today. On a big test later in the year I think the only changes will be Goodhue to 13, ALB to the bench. Can't really see any others unless BBBR is fit.
So it was good to see it work
Frank's and Smith might be done for good. If so thanks for everything you fucking legends

That is true to a degree - those two quick tries seemed to put us straight back on the rails to Shitsville.
Where last week we held the ball and bashed it up in close, this week we either kicked it away aimlessly, or ran it into that pointless second channel.
There were some nice moves and even a couple of line breaks, but the execution - particularly from Hodge who had a 'mare - was woeful.

Think BFA will be in RWC squad as utilty back.
Franks, legend that he is/was, could well be gone. Being dropped is a sad way to end a pretty farking distinguished career in Black.

Hasnen's substitutions?
Marshall's commentary?
Australia would look better with Ioane on the wing? -
Yep, great result and some things were magic to see; kicking for the corners and putting pressure on them to exit, exiting the 22 with minimum drama, sucking in the opposition forwards with mauls and pick and go's, contesting the breakdowns with counter rucking, etc.
Still not convinced we have the team to take out some of the Northern teams. I think if we go back to 2018/early 2019 type we will exit the World cup early. I mean why would you play a stupid game plan and "perfect" it for 2-3 years just to change now. I am friggen confused! It is a small hope the rest of the world is too, and Hansen and co are genius's but Foster is there so ...... -

Brainless shit.
Ouch. How much was Coleman in Arnold out a factor? Scrum depowered, and ruck cleanouts much less effective. Former is enthusiastic but another Coles man?
I don't think the scrum was much more than getting outsmarted. Coleman's idiocy at lineout surrendered some early territory.
The ruck work was pretty much everyone. Back to the past.
What do you make of Ofa at LH? He looked OK to me today against Tupou.

Great performance, especially keeping Australia to nil. Coming of Age for Patrick T, Mo'unga, Bridge and Reece. Ardie Savea awesome as ever. Kieran Read and SBW not bad at all for old men, signature games in the Black Jersey from them both.
The powder is no longer dry.
Australia unable to lift themselves to hit such high standards two weeks in a row. They remain dangerous and there are other quality sides out there who will be a threat on their day.
