Do the Allblacks and springboks understand the term friendly ?

    No.

But they do understand keeping your powder dry.

Vaea Fifita understands that too judging by his efforts over the weekend.

@Chester-Draws said in TRC: The All Blacks against the Springboks (version 98):

Italy Argentina are exactly as good as you would expect for a minority winter sport in a soccer mad country.

If we play them, then apparently it's apparently a meaningless romp for us. If we refuse to play them, then were are snobbish piston wristed gibbons who don't want rugby to thrive. For some people, there's no way anything we do will be right.

And while Italy Argentina will struggle to beat the top nations, it's only that way precisely because they do take them seriously. If we run out a badly under-strength side against them, then we can expect to be beaten. It wasn't that long ago that the Springboks discovered that.

    There you go fixed that.

Do you consider a Test Match vs Italy a serious game? πŸ’° πŸ’°
Especially one which ends up being 3-66....
Italy are Tier 2 nation with a tier 1 Economy
They're mere cannon fodder in 6 Nations

Moreover when was the last match you saw an ABs side spend 30 seconds in an opponents 22 in 2nd half a Test Match πŸ‘€
Pumas set up camp on ABs 40 metre line

Pumas 2nd half mauling was for nothing as they made too many errors when they had the pill I look forward to play NZ in Buenos Aires in 2020 with a very similar side

What has Italy got to do with a single thing you have posted above ?

Italy appear to be part of the massive chip he has on his shoulder over other teams that occupy the same tier as Argentina. Japan and Scotland being the others.

But 2020 is going to be the year the Pumas/Jaguares DOMINATE! Or maybe 2021 or 2022 or 2023. No one else stands a chance because they are all rubbish or their players will be past it by then.

    Nice projection there

Find me a response on TSF where I've mentioned Italy beforehand.... I have no interest in Italian rugby beyond them being bottom feeders in 6 Nations

Likewise I have no care in the world for Scottish & Japanese rugby beyond both sides importing 2nd rate Mercenaries for their national side

Yes Italy are terrible. As a Scots fan I love that they're in the six nations.

I am slightly triggered by this though, Scotland are still 7th in the world althoughas @Jaguares4real says rankings are ultimately meaningless ( just like test matches ) so I shouldn't get so wound up.

My views on World Rankings is: they don't fucking matter

You think England & France are happy with Argentina in their RWC Pool?
You think Wales & Australia are happy with Fiji in their RWC Pool?

    To an extent Yes

But remember teams in TRC are of a much higher quality than in 6 Nations & travel itinerary is rough for the Pumas to boot

Moreover Pumas were playing TRC before Super Rugby so there was little prep to adjust playing style and conditioning for the comp Add a lame duck head coach post 2015 RWC and you have 6 years of futility

Only in last 18 months has there been a semblance of continuity in ARG rugby Time will how Quesada + Ledesma coaching ticket improves ARG rugby overall

Without having the stats to back it up, the Argies have consistently been a tough out in RWC play for at least the last few tourneys. The other teams in their group should beware

@gt12 said in TRC: The All Blacks against the Springboks (version 98):

I'm guessing, but I assume that everyone picked will get at least some opportunity (perhaps not Aumua), so the team I'd run out - given that the coaches have said clearly that they don't value the RC - is:

    1. Moody
    2. Taylor
    3. Franks
    4. Hemopo (this would be the game to find out if he has Brad Thornism or not)
    5. Whitelock
    6. Frizzel
    7. Todd
    8. Read (c)
    9. TJP
    10. Mo'unga
    11. R. Ioane/ Bridge
    12. SBW
    13. Goodhue
    14. Bridge/ Ioane
    15. B. Smith
    16. Coles (Aumua)
    17. Karl T.
    18. Laulala/Ta'vao
    19. Retallick
    20. Paps
    21. A. Smith
    22. Ioane
    23. B. Barrett/Laumape

Would be pretty interesting if they give Mo'unga the start at 10 in probably the toughest test before RWC.

If he did really well, would Hansen then contemplate giving him a Bledisloe test and a chance at usurping Beauden? I'm still sceptical, but Richie is in a sort of similar place as Ardie Savea - and to win the RWC again Hansen may need to throw caution (and some experience) to the wind.

Aside from this - I don't see Hemopo starting over Retallick; I suspect Matt Todd is only going to be an injury call-up, so probably won't make the 23; not sure what Frizell's status is - he played club rugby last weekend, but only half a game, so I'd think at best a bench option - maybe they will start Jacobson; I'd expect Sam Cane to start and Ardie from the bench - or possibly vice-versa. I don't see both Barrett and Ioane on the bench (assuming that Barrett doesn't start - which is my guess - that he will).

    Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...........

Wales, Ireland and England are 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the world. Which I admit is below the All Blacks......but above South Africa and Australia.

But then rankings don't matter so how do you assess quality ?

I'm still so deflated from the CWC farce that I'm struggling to get excited about sport at the moment. I was basically emotionless watching the AB v Arg game. Then again it was only Argentina, I was pretty confident they wouldn't have the mental capacity to get over the line, which is how it eventuated.

Hopefully the old foe can spark some excitement again.

You can't allow fucking accountants to control your life.

I watched the game. I saw what happened.

After that, England won (apparently). Here's the winning moment...
