I'd be happy with Guptill c2015 WC at the moment.

lets face it, 1 guy, no matter how good, is going to help.

If you compare our XI now to our XI in 2015, is there an upgrade anywhere? Maybe Ferguson as the 3rd seamer? Kane might be a bit better now? Other than that? Who would you put from now in to 2015 to help win that final? But ask that question the other way...

I'd take 2019 Kane and Taylor over the 2015 versions. Remember that Taylor was struggling with that eye problem and wasn't full force.

I'd also take either of our keeping options over Luke Ronchi and 2019 Boult too. Remember that 2015 was Boult's breakthrough into the ODI side (he had a similar rep prior to then that he couldn't bowl at the death).

By the same measure, who would you take into this squad from 2015? I'd have Southee, Vettori and McCullum, and replace de Grandhomme with either Elliot or Anderson.

Taylor is fair i guess, but both versions are pretty ordinary.

Boult took more wickets in 2015 than he has in this tournament, at better averages.

    2015 McCullum
    2015 Guptill
    2019 Kane
    2019 Rossco
    2015 Jav
    2019 Neesh
    2019 Latham
    2015 Vettori
    2015 Tim
    2015 Boult
    2019 Ferguson

But Latham and Rossco are best of a bad lot picks

@Cyclops ronchi kept better than Latham and did more with the bat. Our fielding was better too, w keepers play a big role in overall fielding performance. Ronchi miles better than Latham

    Flem.

Great captain. Best World Cup innings by a New Zealander. Both things we need.

Left arm quicks with the new ball were his kryptonite though, hardly promising against the Aussies.

I think the answer is Peak Bond.

Peak Hadlee, Crowe and Bond. Forget the numbers, they are the best NZ cricketers I've ever seen. Crowe, such a visionary, will captain as well

    just pick our all-time XI

Would our all-time XI win the Cup?

In a world cup of All Time XIs, where would be finish? above or below Sri Lanka?

    Run with the argument @Lee-Grant used to use back in prehistoric times when the Aussies last held the Bledisloe Cup;

Sure, your 3rd XI would murder our 3rd's, but you can only pick 11 at the top, and that's why Bradman c. McCullum b. Hadlee will eventually see us through.

bond has easily the most match-winning influence of the modern ODI players, hard to disagree with that even though quick bowling hasn't really been our weakness.
flem is a good shout, an opener hitting a chanceless 90-something before lobbing it to mid off would be a pretty big improvement.

Surely Nash or Thomson would be worth a shot?

Aw fucks sake.....I’ll name a whole team.....

    Hartland
    Pocock
    How
    Fulton
    Cumming
    Thomson
    Vaughan
    Hart
    Hart
    Kennedy
    Davis

All bullshit aside it’s hard to see the openers I picked doing any worse than Guptill/Nicholls/Munro this tournament....

Paddles, M Crowe and Bond would be my pool to choose from, but at this point, any one of Astle, Harris, C Cairns, Smith/Parore/McCullum, Greatbatch and Dipak Patel would be a starter.

For sure, current world cup form compared to the 1992 World Cup is playing a part...
