@Yeetyaah I don't know about Waikato. He is playing club rugby.

Now that Sweeney has brought up his 100 games it is time to move on with the future.

This years NPC doesn't seem to be a look to the future NPC, it seems to be an all in NPC.

    Ouchies.

SPOTLIGHT: More pressure has been heaped on British and Irish Lions coach Warren Gatland after his Chiefs side slumped to a record-breaking eighth defeat in a row in Super Rugby Aotearoa.

@Bones I don't think he should resign, he should be held accountable to a point but the Chiefs have a lot of injuries particularly in the forwards and the scrum has been suffering. Back line defence hasn't been great, it just looks like Cooper era but worse. Hopefully the get the wooden spoon and it causes the coaches to take a hard look at themselves. The problem there is that Gats isn't around next year. Idk asking for a coach to resign is a bit extreme.

@Bones tough headline. Of course some muppets on Twitter think he should resign.

HE's got a team to a decent level, but this is a really tough competition. IF they are playing SA and AUS sides, they aren't losing that many games in a row. A few bounces/refs calls and their season is 4-2 not 0-6. Blues are the same - we could be 2-4 easily (or even 5-1 or 6-0). That's rugby in this incredible competition.

Even better, if you check their profiles - there is only one Chiefs supporter in there and they aren't saying anything about Gats.

Personally, I think he is a good coach, but picked shitty assistants, in particular whoever runs the defense should be down the road. Beyond that, the Chiefs have been well fucked with injuries for a couple of years now and I'd go over every aspect of the program to see if there was any chance that the coaching, preparation, recovery was contributing to that problem continuing.

Hahaha, a decimated squad and narrowly losing games has people throwing their toys out of the cot. That's before we raise the spectre that they've been robbed by contentious decisions.

Making a story based on some hysterical tweets. 👎

Why Warren Gatland and the Chiefs shouldn't get a free pass for their form in Super Rugby Aotearoa

Why Warren Gatland and the Chiefs shouldn't get a free pass for their form in Super Rugby Aotearoa

Whichever way the bread is sliced, it’s hard to deny that the Chiefs may be getting a bit of a pass for some of their failings in Super Rugby Aotearoa.

@Tim Is anyone giving them a free pass, or is Rugbypass busy fingering their own arsehole again?

An article by Hamish Bidwell describes the wonderful Chief’s career of Aaron Cruden. He goes on to praise the work of Dave Rennie and Wayne Smith in the victorious 2012/13 team.,and rightly so.However it is surprising he does not mention the influential forwards coach ,who brought Brodie Retallick,Ben Tameifuna,Kane Thompson,Andrew Horrell, and Mahonri Schwalger to the Chiefs. The work he put into his pack is legendary. It is probably no coincidence that the Blues’ forward pack is now benefitting from his presence, one TJ Coventry.

@trodthesod it's not surprising when you realise it's Hamish Bidwell. Awful journo.

our successful period was built on "limited" players playing well above themselves. Add in a couple of game-changers like Retallick and SBW, and we were a force.

“And the Blues were still regarded as a team who gave up when things got hard “ Hamish Bidwell opines. This sort of criticism the Blues have endured for yonks .In sport nothing remains the same!

@Tim So why doesn't Gatland just bugger off to the NH already. Seriously, he is more interested in doing podcasts for Will Greenwood about the Lions tour, - plus talking to former England head coach Stuart Lancaster - than he is in fixing the ailing and losing culture in the Chiefs. Current coaches seem incapable of putting together a viable, winning gameplan.
Sod awrf I say, and take your stale and mouldy assistants with you.
