I wonder if this will be Cridge's chance to turn his career around, assuming he gets some gametime.
Is he still contracted to the Magpies?

He'll be the 4th lock behind Parkinson, Whetton and Selby-Rickit, so I doubt he'll get much game time, but if he does, I hope he makes the best of it! I assume it will take some time to get match fit and up to speed with the calls.
.Is he still contracted to the Magpies?
The HBRU never publish contract duration of players. Hell, they hardly ever publish signings. So who knows? He was playing club rugby for Central, I think?

The new signing might be available in round eight. In a ten round competition.

Got to ease him in, don't want him reinjuring himself and missing 5 minutes in round 10.

@shark Tom Parsons is a very good lock at NPC level, who was in the Hurricanes wider training squad, last year. Quite unlucky not to get a SR contract, the last few years. With his 1.98m he adds some valuable height and he has a huge workrate. Also has a nose for the try line. Unfortunately, on the contracting front, his age (he's almost 30) is going to count against him now.

I watch a fair bit of NPC and I couldn't tell you who he plays for.
That he's almost 30 and he's only just breaking into an injury depleted and already thin SR squad, indicates he isn't all that flash.

The Highlanders also confirmed that Hawke's Bay lock Tom Parsons will remain with the squad for the rest of the season, replacing Josh Dickson.
Former Hurricanes lock Geoff Cridge had been with the squad last week on a short-term basis.
