The HBRU never publish contract duration of players. Hell, they hardly ever publish signings. So who knows? He was playing club rugby for Central, I think?

The new signing might be available in round eight. In a ten round competition.

Got to ease him in, don't want him reinjuring himself and missing 5 minutes in round 10.

@shark Tom Parsons is a very good lock at NPC level, who was in the Hurricanes wider training squad, last year. Quite unlucky not to get a SR contract, the last few years. With his 1.98m he adds some valuable height and he has a huge workrate. Also has a nose for the try line. Unfortunately, on the contracting front, his age (he's almost 30) is going to count against him now.

I watch a fair bit of NPC and I couldn't tell you who he plays for.

That he's almost 30 and he's only just breaking into an injury depleted and already thin SR squad, indicates he isn't all that flash.

@shark All it tells you that you haven't watched Magpies games very well. He's a good NPC level player. No one is saying he would have been a great SR player if he had been given the opportunity. We'll never know.

@Stargazer Well yes, I'll grant you that I probably don't pay much attention to HB. Their games might be on, but in the background kinda style. Still, I would have thought his name would ring a bell.

The Highlanders also confirmed that Hawke's Bay lock Tom Parsons will remain with the squad for the rest of the season, replacing Josh Dickson.

Former Hurricanes lock Geoff Cridge had been with the squad last week on a short-term basis.

@Stargazer Wonder why Cridge was only there short term? Good for Parsons. @shark might know who he is soon.

Both Cridge and Parsons are quality locks.

so...anyone think we'll see NMS after the bye?...OR...do we think Hunt might have got his eye in and has earned a start at 15, assuming Iaone comes in to 10

He might get overshadowed by the signing of Michael Fatialofa.
