QF 3: Jaguares v Chiefs

Based on the pre-match talking up by that Jag fan, Chiefs musta played outta thier skins to be so close...
Seriously though, well done Jags, also kept my multi alive.
Bummer for the Brumbies having to get on that big bird to BA.

Jaguares were okay in the game but did enough to win & deserved to win
Chiefs were nullified in the 2nd half minus a good 5 min spell near Jagaures goaline
This was why I was so confident they would win
Jaguares have 2nd best Points differential in the 2nd half in Super Rugby
Today they won 13-7 in 2nd halfChiefs apart from their scrums and set piece attacks off them were really poor overall
In general play they struggled to challenge Jaguares D
I counted FOURTEEN handling errors from Chiefs
Most of them forced by line speed in defence Most unlike a NZ side
Still game was in doubt for a while
Chiefs best players were their Back 3 and Debrizieni
You can;t win knockout games like that
Finally Jaguares crowd was

Well, shit. Sounds like it's good for my Saturday demeanor that I didn't watch a minute of it.
Congrats Jags and fans, and best of luck for next weekend

@Steven-Harris agree with most of that.
But I didn’t think ALB was one of the Chiefs best. He was driven back in almost every carry. Didn’t hit the line at speed like he usually does. He was well contained which is a credit to the Jags defence.
There were chances to win for the Chiefs but I thought there was a drop in composure when the starting 9/10 combo were replaced.
Well done Jags. A close contest by two very evenly matched teams.

@taniwharugby i can see the Sharks winning tonight but i dont genuinely see them winning again in BA.

@ACT-Crusader fair enough..

I haven't seen the game, but I disagree with this. It is not unlike a NZ side to make mistakes when facing a strong rush defence. Line speed is the way to force NZ sides into mistakes and spoil their rhythm. The British Lions showed the way and as yet NZ sides have not consistently been able to overcome the rush defence (when done well).
That's why I am nervous about the World Cup.

We're probably in teh wrong thread, but Lions test 1 showed how to overcome that - good inside balls, hard running and offloading all night. Ireladn last year was a bit of an aberration - if we get held to 9 points, it's going to be damn hard to win. Well done to them - but we looked well off our game that night.

Hamazing hags scrape past a misfiring Chiefs at home. Hand them the trophy!
How funny were the scrums though, those hags really are tough. And everyone marvel at the hags hamazing kicking, just wow.
Also had to laugh at Weber's new found pass accuracy, after Sowakula knocked on one dribbling at his feet or Sam Cane's knee smashed the pass forward for the umpteenth time. Was extremely noticeable how TTT's passes were going directly to hand.
Debres... Debrez... Jack D is good eh, going to be handy next season.

Not a beauty contest Just about winning ugly
Jaguares played their worst game since they lost to Highlanders 6 weeks ago and STILL WON......
I understand it's hard for you to comprehend a NZ team being outplayed & outfought physically and tactically by a bunch of Argentinians but you'll get there in the end
Poor BIG BAD Brodie Retallick face at the end of the game was like he'd gone 12 rounds with Mike Tyson
Might have to rename him BRICK HAND Brodie Retallick with the number of times he dropped the pill
Jaguares scrum has been crap all season Only reason why teams have got any losing BP out of them but Lineouts are were you really lose games
6 lost lineouts lost was embarrassing Petti was creating havoc
But hey you get to watch Jaguares host the Brumbies next Sunday morning NZ time
Enjoy

I’ve watched every one of the Jags games this season (and last) and that is by far the best they have played. The fact is they didn’t bottle it under the pressure of finals footy and they were able to maintain the pressure on the Chiefs.
Most finals over the many years of Super rugby often come down to a few winning plays and last night was no different.
Enjoy the win fella.
P.S. These posts have a remarkable resemblance to a certain former Saffa poster that unfortunately (or fortunate for some) when it went to poo threw the toys out when he copped some of his own back (all in “good fun” of course) and then deserted the Fern....

Quick question - how was that first try not ruled a double movement?
-
@Jaguares4real Salty? Did you and c4l go to the same school? Pretty odd you think I'm upset....only thing that is slightly perturbing is I used to love following the hags, now we get one of their "supporters" on and it has kinda ruined it, at least the team seem humble and not braggadocious and deluded.
It was certainly an ugly win, at home and scraping past a team that supposedly shouldn't have even bothered turning up. Good luck beating the Brumbies....
