Chiefs vs Highlanders

Hmmmmmm I guess we should get used to seeing these replacement players suit up, as it is a WC year..........

@Tim The script says that he will be brilliant , then we will talk about another great player that the Blues let get away! or maybe that is Manu.
Leger belongs at the Chiefs, if anywhere (and I mean if anywhere). He was only an injury call up to the Blues.
I really hope the kid takes this opportunity to focus his game and show what he's got because he looked out of place in Super last year and came across as a bit lazy during the NPC. Certainly didn't look Super Rugby quality which usually stands out.Anyway, that's what we've got given the injuries and if he has a mare at least Beaver is on hand.

@Crucial I think he had a tough ask last season. To my knowledge he has always been a 12/10 at junior levels yet Umaga in his wisdom asked him to play 13 outside the best winger in the world at 12! I too hope he steps up and is at least steady until the regulars return. He does seem to have a capable kicking game. Will he also have to kick goals? another tough ask for a rookie.

@Crucial and turn the Gatorade into wine!
It must be a great money saver for the team BBQs when you only have to buy a couple of loaves and fishes.

Moli hasn't found his mark at loose head. He struggled vs Tupou in the warm up game against the Red. His confrontation with Lomax is an interesting one. I don't know much about Johnstone but this will be a hard introduction to Super Rugby for him against Angus TM. Retallick vs Parkinson is another great feature. This will be a big test for the young Ta$man lock.

with Debreczeni also injured, Cooper was saying all things going well, Donald would be nowhere near the 23 this week given he only joined them this week...but he said the young guys are all responding well to his voice at training....

@mariner4life FYI, Super rugby, right back to 1997 has started in Feb every year....in 2007 it we'd be into week 2
really? fuck. well, there you go.
Doesn't change the fact that it is stupidly early for a football code to start. There should still be test match cricket on.
I always remember the post @Dodge made about the footy season starting in England where he found it a little depressing as it meant Summer was about to end.
That kind of struck a chord with me.
I am liking my cricket too much to care about the Chiefs at the moment. I can honestly say that if I was given a free ticket to this weekends game (are we even at home, I am thinking so purely because of thread title) that I would turn it down.
I don't watch cricket and it seems a bit early for me even - but I know I'll probably watch at least two games this weekend and if our free tickets pan out I'll venture over to Brookvale to watch the Canes v Tahs.
Funny, I'm the reverse of most of you. I have hardly watched any Super rugby over the past 5 ears, less and less every year. But this year I'm really excited to get back into it, probably because its a RWC year I think.
I'll be watching the Chiefs recorded tonight, then will also be at Brooky tmrw night to watch the mighty Canes get off to the right start

@Duluth he has taken time to develop all round game. Was prospect out of Kings College but maybe not game management aspects which let him down. I think he was seen as long term prospect at Highlanders and had been developing in Mitre10. Big mover last year and will be interested to see at this level.
