@booboo how do you know it was obvious to everybody on the field? What's the protocol around disobeying the umpire?
Different issue.
He was given out by the process and had to go.
I expect him and Kane to be fined.
But those unethical Indian fluffybunnies knew he wasn't out.
If they had any thread of decency they would have called him back.
What got me was Sharma obviously said something to Mitchell, who then said "tell the umpires". Gutless prick bailed and then Dhoni pulled him away.
What the? How did you see/hear all this? I certainly couldn't on my coverage.
It strikes me as a bit disingenuous to moan about the ethics of the Indian team when you don't know who knew/heard/saw/said what and Mitchell won't even leave the field when he's been given out.
It was pretty obvious that after Sharma and Mitchell shared a word together Mitchell gestured toward the umpires, Sharma moved in that direction, then Dhoni intervened.
Sure 2 plus 2 may not equal 5 ... and we all know the effect of bias on perception, but 2 plus 2 is most of 5 (that made sense in my head ...).
As for Mitchell, he was being supported by his Captain who was also protesting. I suspect he'll be fined, but it really was a miscarriage of justice.

Seems like Colin will be given limited chances to pad his stats and his CWC chances vs the bangles

Third umprie was Shaun Haig who played a reasonable number of seasons batting in the top order for Otago so I'm extra curious about the rationale he worked through, since as a batsman he'd be aware of how much more a poor decision given hurts than a poor not given decision.

Completely useless Fern link to fame - I played against Haig in his first senior game in Dunedin - he was only 15-16 or so and was appearing for Taieri having only played for The Taieri High School prior to that (which was not a cricketing school at all). I was a wise old 17-year-old at the time.
It's fair to say he went a bit further than I did...

When you have breakfast with Jerome Kaino, Liam Squire, Joe Moody and Damian McKenzie let us know. Otherwise keep your anecdotes to yourself.

So it seems the players locked in for the CWC are:
- Kane Williamson
- Todd Astle
- Trent Boult
- Colin de Grandhomme
- Lockie Ferguson
- Martin Guptill
- Matt Henry
- Tom Latham
- Jimmy Neesham
- Henry Nicholls
- Ross Taylor
- Mitchell Santner
- Tim Southee
Means two spots left and you have to think Sodhi will be one of the two. So Colin Munro, Tim Seifert, Will Young and possibly Corey Anderson to fight it out for the last spot.

Ben Smith was the owner of my house two owners before me. I asked him about it after a Highlanders game in Melbourne, and he confirmed that was the case. Still probably the strangest question he's ever been asked by a fan post-match.

Marty Berry sold my folks a house a few years back in the rapa but I can't beat that Ben Smith anecdote.
Back to the cricket I think that team of @Sneakdefreak s is spot on. There is enough genuine class to go very far in the tournament if things click.
Despite the fern hatred for Colin Munro none of the guys battling for the last spot are terrible players. It's a good spot to be in.

@MN5 don’t think it’s hatred of Munro, more a hatred of the fact he’s not scoring any bloody runs....
Yeah good point. You know what I mean.....
I still reckon he'll make the squad though and the selectors will point to his bowling as being part of the reasoning.

They've invested a lot of time in him, I think he'll make it too

World Cups need experience, or so it's always mentioned, which I believe is true

At the time I was so fucked off he took what I believed was the Neeshes spot. I was pleased to be proven wrong.
I saw the jav at trentham last year ( free food and piss in the corporate lounge, ordinarily I'd rather have my teeth pulled than watch horse racing but free is free and I am Scottish ) and people were coming up to him and shaking his hand. Looks to be an absolute top joker.
