England coming 2nd in their pool would definitely count as opening everything right the fuck up. It makes one of Wales and England take each other out.
But, because nearly every quarter is going to be a shitfight, there just feels like less opportunity for a "free ride" to a final

There's no easy QF.
Scotland/Japan are a clear rung below the other three likely finalists. Weaker than last tournament too.
My point being does either of them in the QF open up one side of the draw?

Yep and given our issues with Ireland in recent times , I think I’d prefer to avoid that game in a quarter despite their patchy form
I’ll gladly take Scotland or japan instead

Not really, like I said before it really can only open up if Ireland win their QF and/or we lose ours.

Most interesting will be seeing how Argentina cope when the game isn’t a friendly
They go pretty well at RWC time don't they? My memory suggests their record has been pretty good over the last few tournaments

Oh, this is bloody, gloriously priceless. Sir Clive Woodwhinge profiles the Teams and here he is on NZ.
""Key man: Tempting to say Beauden Barrett, their best player, but actually the man who cements the backs together is Sonny Bill Williams.
Rising star: Richie Mo’unga, a quality new No10 but it’s his goal-kicking New Zealand need most.
Weaknesses: Very few, but lost occasional matches through goal kicking, hence spotlight on Mo’unga.*
Does he know BB generally takes the kicks when RM is playing & SBW is rarely fully fit?
And we think the likes of Rattue don't actually watch games....

I think Crucial might have been using the slightest soupcon of irony, directed at a certain Ferner ...

I was aware of that. Just wanted to provide a real answer for a change. The cat man has gone strangely quiet lately....

"The Chase" has posted his WC analysis for the ABs:
He's done some work for 1014 Rugby this year.

I'd say Crotty is more likely the guy that brings everything together,

Well I know everyone is eagerly awaiting the news, so I'll steal @antipodean thunder...
The winner of the Parliamentary Rugby World Cup, by virtue of a golden try in overtime is... NZ.
