I would rather watch Canelo Alvarez fight right now than the heavyweights , he is the best boxer on the planet for me ,
I grew up watching the Ali , Frazier era , and the heavyweight division has never been the same since for me ,
then we had the 4 kings all fighting each other, another great era , probably my second favorite era ,
But while the heavyweight division isnt what it was , I still think its better than the Klitchko era , at least we still have some potential interesting match ups .
I think the Uk deserve a lot credit for what they have contributed to the sport in recent times , it is booming there .
Yep, I do love a good power puncher.
The 90s/2000s was a very good era too though. Holyfield, Lewis, Tyson ( not at the level he was ), Bowe etc all made for some awesome fights.
The four kings you refer to, Ali/Frazier/Foreman obviously but who is the 4th ? Norton ? Holmes ? Shavers ?

The 70s heavyweights my favorite
four kings my second , welterwights/middleweights - Leonard , Hearns , Hagler , Duran great era ,
watched a great doco quite a few times now on the history of the heavyweights featuring the late great emanuel steward and where he ranks them all ,
he possibly shows a little bias towards ones he has trained but thats a bit understandable and ok , geat if your looking for something to watch during lockdown

Will have a watch of that.
Sorry when you said four kings I thought you meant the Heavyweights.

Tyron Woodley should be kicking himself, if only he actually could get the motivation to lift his own leg.
Patient and controlled despite losing the first 4 rounds he had the opportunity to finish Paul and backed off
And that was his undoing
A decent watch, with Paul showing he has the right stuff.
He may be the smartest man in the room, handpicking his opponents and being both the hero and heel in equal measure.
People tune in to see him win.
People tune in to hopefully see him get knocked the fuck out.
All the while he’s the hot ticket making bank

That fight was the most rigged fight I've seen for many a year. Tyron could have had him if he wanted but backed off for a reason.
Edit - ok maybe since Paul vs Askren....

Virtually everything I’ve read about it confirms what you’re saying. I’m sure Woodley was offered a fair stack of cash to NOT knock him the fuck out.
I think the most apt comment I read was someone saying the Paul brothers are like Professional Tennis players who only play against table tennis or squash players.

@mikethesnow FWIW, I don't mind Jake Paul headlining shows like this. It gives proper fighters on his shows a bit of exposure to different audiences like Dubois, Montana Love etc. whilst fighters like Serrano who wouldn't have probably had any huge paydays despite having a successful pro career, get a well deserved payday so yeah, good on Jake Paul. He's probably doing more for boxing than people think, despite going about it in a rather unorthodox fashion.

September 11th, huh? I might have to buy this.

Why Evander, WHY ?
You are a fucken legend of the fight game, no good will come of this. Have some dignity.
Also they’re still calling him “President” Trump. Who writes this shit ?

That's the standard title. If anyone wants to comment on Trump/politics - do it in the US politics thread only.

okay. Boxing is a joke and should just die off already. As with anything, greed killed it.

@kid-chocolate Hahaha. He's what, 60 years old?

Just a passing comment, politics doesn’t interest me too much.
Evander must need the child support money, that’s the only reason I can see him doing this.

The 20th anniversary of 9/11 is almost the 25th anniversary of The Real Deal getting his ear bitten by Iron Mike which was itself a two-year anniversary of John Chompers Le Roux biting Fitzy’s ear and that was a decade after Evander fouled out of Los Angeles to Kevin Barry. He’s 58. Still a kid.

Almost 59 year old Holyfield TKOd in the first round while Donald Trump commentated.
What a sad state of affairs boxing is in right now.
Belfort looked powerful to be fair
Called out Jake Paul
Paul would do well to avoid Vitor
In the co-main, Anderson Silva sparked Tito Ortiz

Haven't seen it but does this delay future fights or get them moving? Things seemed to be in a real tangle there for a while.

Watched it ,
Magnificent from Usyk , very skilled fighter , undefeated , dominated the cruiser weight division before moving up , Olympic gold medalist , won gold in the same Olympics Joshua did in the division below,
I have to be honest I brought the hype a good big man will beat a good smaller man , but usyk was so slick , continuous movement , throwing from angles , 100 per ent skill set , AJ wasn’t horrible ,even if he is overhyped , just met a guy that had a plan to out point him and succeeded
