@MN5 Holmes said he was out but hitting the canvas woke him up
Amazing recovery powers but like what Fury did v Wilder in 1 and fight 3 .

    Just amazingly tough guys.

To compare I’m fairly sure Mike Tyson never got up to win a fight after being knocked down.

    No he didn't
but in fairness to Mike he took huge beatings before being stopped (disregarding the last couple to journeyman where he shouldn't have been fighting)
    Buster
    Evander
even v Lennox when he was well past it.
The 2 fights with Ruddock showed courage he was hit and hurt many times but always responded so Mike didn't lack heart.

Probably gets overlooked with mike because he blasted everyone away early , but his endurance wasn’t the best .

If you could get him to middle rounds ( if 😀) a lot of the danger disappeared

@kiwiinmelb He doesn't get anywhere enough credit for his control of distance either. Fury was just smarter than him overall in terms of ring iq in general, but people just treat Wilder as someone who's sloppy with a lack of skill, but he is indeed very crafty in terms of closing the space with his front foot and forcing guys to lunge in and lose concentration in the pocket, like he did in Ortiz 2 and against Szpilka.

Yeah will be interested to see what Joe and Andy come up with .Fury will be telling them this is what you do to beat him, .

the thing that worries me most , Joe wears shots , his good chin usually gets him out of trouble, but this is different.

Yeah it didn’t work vs Joyce and it won’t vs Wilder.

He wore alot from Joyce and kept going until accumulation took its toll but Joyce and Wilder are very different punchers joyce thuds you to the ground taking away your will - one punch from Wilder can take your soul.

Wilder is a massive hitter but I cracked up reading the comments section on Youtube when he knocked down Fury…..

“Fury got up like someone who’d forgotten to delete his internet search history….”

He lost it after Cus D’amato died.

Even if cus was younger/ healthier..alive mike would have ended up following the same path. Maybe he would have stayed disciplined a few more years so had a longer peak but Don king ,cocaine and money motivated ladies would have still gotten hold of him. He is an addict. Cus made him a training addict but that would have worn thin.
Amazing life story though. This age of self promotion through social media has robbed us of the characters in boxing - I have tired of fury and his knobhead dad of late but his story is a throwback in alot of ways.

I think he seems to be in a pretty good space now ( relatively speaking )

His legacy is debatable but he’s without a doubt the most compelling and fascinating sportsman I can think of.

I did a double take when I read "sportsman." Technically I guess he was but I never thought of sport when I watched him box, it was so savagely primordial.

Yeah but my word he got people watching didn’t he ?

But as others have said once the fear factor wasn’t there and his opponents had more reach/skill/heart he was definitely beatable.

Oh yeah I agree with all of the above. If you watch him against Lennox there is a moment you can see he knows he aint' going to win it and he just waits for the inevitable.

….and most boxing experts will tell you even at his ( Tysons ) best he would not have been able to beat Lewis. Like Holyfield ( who also beat him ) Lewis never came close to getting the attention that Tyson at his peak got though. Probably a bit “boring” in comparison.

@kiwiinmelb Benavidez batters Andrade. Way too big for him. Andrade will make things tricky early on fighting southpaw, but once Benavidez sorts out the range, he'll take over mid rounds and stop him around the 9th I feel.
