The heavyweight division is alive and well ,
Just got to hope we get the match ups we want ,
Parker signed with DAZN as well , which should get him some good fights,
Being tipped to fight chisora or usyk , not sure I like the match up with usyk but should be interesting
-
And big boned boys around the world rub their stomachs and rejoice.
Ruiz went from 'kid' (holding AJ's belts at the weigh in) to 'KING'
Fantastic. Thoroughly deserved.
AJ mentally shattered and will do well to come back from this.

@MiketheSnow
AJ made the big, big mistake of surrounding himself with sycophants and believing his own hype. He cut out the honest, plain-speaking people who knew him of old and remembered him a kid from Watford with big dreams. Always goes horribly wrong for fighters when they reach that stage. Hubris and nemesis: the oldest story of them all.I hope for his sake, he has put some money away as I am not sure he is coming back.

I just managed to watch most of the fight and was quite surprised how lost AJ looked. He had a very determined opponent that was staring him down, kept advancing and every time AJ jabbed he copped a counter.
It really looked like AJ had no idea what to do when his opponent wasn’t showing him too much respect.
He also showed little in the way of guts himself at the end. It was like he decided he didn’t like getting beaten and gave up. -

Joshua looked like that guy ,you wonder if the rockstar lifestyle had taken his focus away , and Ruiz looked like the desperate kid off the streets

100 per cent ,
I reckon privately , eddie will be spewing they took this fight , when they were under pressure to find a replacement fighter at short notice to replace Miller , they took the wrong guy ,
Ruiz isnt the best fighter going around , but the old saying , styles make fights , and without a lot of options with only 5 weeks they picked out a guy who has the pressure fight style that clearly troubled Joshua .
And Joshua would have probably knocked out Miller , its funny how it panned out .

In fairness to Parker. Anytime he attempted to dirty box or get into a position to do something meaningful the ref broke it up.
Im my opinion Parker is in a very good place now. That aside....
Andy Fucking Ruiz Jr. You bloody legend.
What an inspiration to fat fluffybunnies the world over....can anyone believe this guy is a professional athlete? Pass me another beer and plate of onion rings....
-
@raznomore AJ probably wished they had that same ref.
Don't know if I'd be too keen to take the rematch if I were AJ and his team. This wasn't a random KO from nowhere, he got beaten up badly in there and his stamina is terrible with that ridiculous amount of muscle he is carrying. He looked like David Price in there. I think it would be wise for AJ to take a few soft touches before throwing himself into a rematch and try fighting at a lighter weight.

Back to the styles make fights theory ,
Joseph has never looked that comfortable fighting taller fighters , and having to chase them around
He looks at his best fighting shorter fighters that come forward onto his punches IMO ,
Andy Ruiz is just that ,
If he can hang onto the title , that is the fight they should be chasing hard ,
Andy has spoken out on numerous occasions how he thought he was robbed in their previous fight , maybe he would be interested to go again

He would have to do a huge amount of training, yet he still looks like he inhales donuts with each breath. His food intake must be absolutely enormous.

Said he's not bothered. Got the WBO title doesn't need to prove anything against Parker.
And if as many have intimated he (Ruiz) has a short shelf-life then he'll go after the money - AJ, Fury, Wilder - not revenge - Parker.

Built for purpose.
Put on 5lbs from last fight to give more heft to his hits; not be bullied around the ring by the bigger fighter; and a layer of cushioning to absorb AJ's blows.
By contrast, AJ's mid section whilst aesthetically impressive couldn't cope with Ruiz's power.
Ruiz's physique is not dissimilar to MMA Legend Fedor Emelianenko.

How can you not love his moment and the guy

Yep. The beach bod exposes all the muscles for punishment.
I think that was JPs strategy as well (the ref took the option away though) of get inside and hurt the arms/stomach to remove some power and soften him up.
Ruiz got the balance right though and it was his relentless coming forward rather than clinching that won him the match. -

And Wilder would be the one they would do first you would think from a business POV,
Both Ruiz and wilder are managed by Al Haymon , that way they ensure all the titles stay in their hands regardless of who wins , before they accept challenges from outside

I guess it's about money.
Could he break the re-match contract with AJ for an exorbitant penalty?
Winner of Wilder and Ruiz holds all the belts and all the bargaining power and fight share brokering.
Short-term financial loss for long-term financial gain?
Hope not.
Hope Ruiz shows he's a man of his word.

Got to love Teddy
