@nepia please no, seems like a nice bloke but I can imagine his pre match g-up would be boring as f#%k
If you based a rugby players ability on personality then Richie McCaws career would be more like Sam Hardings. I don't really see it being an issue.

I'm not advocating for it - just thinking he's the most likely candidate.

Dalton Papali'i has captained a lot of Age Grade teams and his profile on the ABs website talks about "his obvious leadership potential", but it would be a massive risk to make him captain on debut and the youngest ABs captain of all time.
I'd give the captaincy for this test to Patrick Tuipulotu.

@sparky Procter?
He's no Mike Brewer
Very astute. You have a good eye for detail.

For some reason I thought Brewer captained the ABs on debut ? turns out he didn't and a pretty poor post from me has been rendered utterly shit. If we could just move on I'd appreciate it.

You all sound like those two old judges off the Muppets. Looking forward to this. Love seeing some of the next generation come through.
Probably the most mickey mouse AB side ever?
No. That would be the 1949 home ABs v Australia while the first 30 toured South Africa. We lost 0-2 and 0-4, the worst year in AB history.
Also the 1976 tourists to Argentina again while the first 30 toured South Africa (although, unlike 1949, they weren't awarded test status by NZRU as Argentina weren't considered a test nation at the time)
This team is only missing 22.

Didn't that Otago back up hooker captain the ABs in his first match?
As did John Mitchell.

It appears there is still no tv rights holder for this match in the UK?
Any ferners over here know if there is a plan?

As did John Mitchell.
I had thought that too but Mitchell played 3 games with Zinny as captain before leading the ABs for the remaining 3 midweek tour games.

Very happy to see they offer it on-demand also... not sure I'm willing to get up at 5:45 to watch All-Blacks-leftovers v Japan.
