Japan vs All Blacks

Mounga, Tahuriorangi and Coles seemed to be the best of the starters. Mounga and Coles need to be in the 23 next week.
Evans and Bridge best of the bench. Would like to see how both of them would go with a start but they are back to NZ unfort.
Some great tries by Japan. Concerns remain on defence for ABs. A lot of one on one misses. I lost count of how many tackles Naholo missed.
Jordie is lucky to be in the 32 for Europe. I'm not sold fullback is his best position.
It's not. He's a 12. I might have mentioned that once before.
He was shart today though. Very disappointing. Thought TTT was very solid. Like the look of him.

Weird trying to understand the selectors in regard to NMS.
He had been off the pace for so long.
Bridge could have been in the 4 nations squad.
Wasted opportunity.I suppose you want to be sure before you drop him for good. Let's see Bridge back up first in Super Rugby 2019, in which case he could be a keeper.

This sums it up for me as well. Jodie is only 21 so I think he&ll make a few people eat their words in the future. Not at the moment tho...

That was like an exibition game haha. A lot of guys looked good out there but I wouldn't get too carried away, we were virtually playing the Sunwolves out there. Don't see what the concern is about the defence as a lot of those guys won't see/start another test.
-
@billy-tell Or in a real test match.
-
@african-monkey agree with most of that, but ultimately these guys are all still the top 51 players in NZ, so they should be able to defend better than they did.

5, and fafita 4, pretty much the same as the rest of the 23 put together

And it was reminiscent of the way guys who will play for the All Blacks next week shipped 36 points against the Springboks too.

I’m not too stressed over Jordies form slump ,
He is still a kid , I think he will be ok long term ,
Was pretty hyped up last year on debut , looks to be suffering a bit of second season blues , looks almost like he could benefit from a break ,
Shame they can’t take bridge .

Why 'can't' they take bridge? The coaches will take damned well who they want on the rest of their trip. If they want bridge, they'll take him
-
@stargazer he got up from a tackle about 15 mins before half time holding a shoulder, looked ok in a contact just before halftime but then didnt come back
-
@taniwharugby Yeah fair enough, but I'll let them off when a lot of them were joing the squad late and a lot of them had barely played with each other.

They first assembled on Monday, No surprise their defensive systems were poor.

69-31. Well we got it done with the C team.
Not completely pointless in the end. The crowd had a fair bit to cheer about, no doubt a great night for those in attendance and a decent advert for the RWC.
Some players put their hand up - Mo'unga, Bridge, Evans. Some really didn't - NMS, Naholo, Fifita. I hope that helps the selectors decide who deserves to be there.
Laumape was awesome with ball in hand, but continues to make some errors on defense. That's his number one work-on, but for me he offers more than SBW right now.
Mo'unga is going to push Beauden very hard for that 10 jumper next year. Unlikely they'll switch before the RWC but hell is it good to have such a classy backup.
We have a big gap on the right wing at the moment and Bridge could well fill that next year if his form continues. Smart player with plenty of pace.
Obviously the biggest negative is our defense at the moment. That was makeshift team so partly to be expected, but we've been exposed a bit this year. Really need to tighten that up.
Anyway, bring on England. Been way too fucking long since we played those bastards.
