@Darren it would be a bigger loss if the Canes didn't have anyone else coming through but we do. Harry Godfrey is a much bigger talent and will surpass Morgan anyway. He's likely to play a lot more mins for the Canes next year and will likely move past Cameron aswell. Godfrey is our long term 10 and I'm picking him to have a similar impact that Cam Roigard has had in the last year when he finally gets an opportunity.
Godfrey has been playing 10 for Petone this year and has been setting the Welly club competition a light. To give you an idea of his impact, Petone beat Norths (who are no mugs) 88-12 on Saturday.
If Godfrey cant get a start at first for HB he should move to Wellington.

It would be ironic if Razor picks him again now. Good on him, go away and make some big money
-
He’ll be eligible for Japan at the end of next year
-
@Duluth Didn't even think about that haha.
Following in the footsteps of Arran Pene, Jamie Joseph and Graeme Bachop.

In the video he says he is born and bred in Auckland.

He was born in Japan, born and bred just a phrase
-
Rieko was born and bred in Auckland.
-
Eligible for Samoa as well apparently, which team would he pick?
-
How is Michael Little going these days?
-
Westlake oldboy Tiennan Costley has made the Japan training squad as a loose forward.
EDIT: He made the full squad too.

Bloody typical. Akira finally runs on to the ball at 100 miles an hour and smashes into the line like I have been wanting him to do for years. And then he says he's leaving.

Blame Jason not Akira. He does not look like he wants to leave.

The Q is not where he was born and bred but where were his parents when his fired the “fatal” shot.
A player who never reached the promised heights and ended up bit-part.

If he doesn't want to leave, he doesn't have to leave...
There are plenty of players his age who haven't left NZ yet (some All Blacks, some not).
It's not Jason Ryan's fault if Ioane thinks he deserves to get picked and isn't after one very good season.
Though of course a lot of assumptions are being made based on one Instagram post.

Someone better tell the official AB player database.

You beat me to it
Screenshot because I'm sure it will change in the next day or so. The "NZ and overseas media" would've been getting it from here
Weird that it was left incorrect for so long
-
Yeah weird that both the All Blacks and Olympics sites say he was born in NZ, but he himself says he wasn't (go to 32:19):
-
-
Shame as he is having his best ever season, I would have had him in the AB mix, but understandable

I'm in deep shock that information that is all over the internet is utter bollocks. Surely this is the first and only example of this?

It's poor, but not surprising. Fact checking is expensive and doesn't add to stories in teh short term. Reckons are usually way off base, but the AB official site getting something as fundamentally wrong as a birthplace is interesting.

you assume he would say he doesnt look himself up on line....but i know i would if it was me, or one of my family would, really weird

To be clear, I think he got the word he wasn't in the selection frame, so is making a rational financial decision for his family.
you'd assume/hope so, i was looking forward to seeing him in black under a different coach
